Fox News Guest Jokes ‘Alexandria Castro-Cortez’ is ‘Castro’s Granddaughter’
A Fox News guest keeps trying to tie Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the Democratic Socialist just elected to Congress, to Fidel Castro, the communist leader of Cuba, in his appearances on Fox News.
Niger Innis, a conservative commentator and national spokesperson for the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE), first tied Ocasio-Cortez to Castro on Friday night, in an appearance on Hannity.
“It’s important to get some type of legislation, criminal justice reform passed before Queen Nancy [Pelosi], and people like Mad Maxine Waters and Castro’s granddaughter Ocasio-Cortez, come to town with a Democratic majority,” Innis said. (No correction from Hannity guest host Jeannine Pirro.)
Saturday morning, Innis appeared on Fox & Friends Weekend to again talk criminal justice reform — and referred to Ocasio-Cortez as “Alexandria Castro-Cortez.” (No correction from host Pete Hegseth).
Is it just a lame recurring joke from Innis? Perhaps. Will a not-insignificant portion of Fox News viewers come away actually believing that Ocasio-Cortez is a descendant of Castro? Perhaps.
