Giuliani Tells Fox News: ‘Somebody Played Around’ With Trump-Cohen Tape

On Saturday, Judge Jeanine Pirro started off her show with the breaking news that President Donald Trump‘s lawyer Rudy Giuliani is now claiming the Trump-Cohen tape leaked to CNN this week was tampered with.

“Rudy Giuliani within the hour has told Fox News that experts have gone over the tape that former Trump attorney Michael Cohen allegedly made of conversations with the president and Giuliani says ‘somebody played around’ with the tape,” Pirro said. “He says the Trump legal team is trying to get to the bottom of it. Among other things, he says he’s trying to get access to the original full recording.”

Then, in a phone interview with Giuliani that immediately followed, Pirro questioned the former New York City mayor about why he thinks the tape has been played with.

“He abruptly ended that recording as soon as the president said the word check,” Giuliani said, after lamenting he used to think of Cohen as an honest guy. “What we are investigating is how did that happen.”

The former mayor then added: “We have determined the fact that he tampered with the tape in the sense he abruptly mid-conversation turned it off.”

Giuliani then further opined: “I think they [Cohen lawyer Lanny Davis and Cohen] put it out because they wanted the doctored version to obscure whatever else might be on that tape.”

He then suggested that the favorable parts are likely lost to us because they were erased or, more likely, never recorded.
