‘I Would Tell Him to Go F*ck Himself’: Ukrainian Man Shares Message for Putin With Anderson Cooper
A Ukrainian man shared a blunt message for Russian President Vladimir Putin with CNN’s Anderson Cooper on Wednesday.
A worker in western Ukraine wants Russia’s tyrannical leader to “go f*ck himself.”
On the sixth day of Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine, casualties are mounting on both sides.
Russian troops are dead, the country has acknowledged. Leaders have not confirmed that the number of dead is anywhere near the roughly 6,000 Ukrainians claim to have killed.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday implied Russia’s military is indiscriminately targeting civilians in ambulances, hospitals and schools.
Still, stories of civilians fighting back have emerged throughout the last week.
Cooper, reporting from the western Ukrainian city of Lviv, spoke to people about how they intend to help repel Russian forces.
A man at a factory explained to the CNN anchor how molotov cocktails are used. Cooper noted that “additional materials” are added to gasoline. The man explained gas is blended to ensure it will “stick on the surface” of whatever it is thrown at.
Cooper told CNN’s audience,
When we got here, to the factory, there was a group of maybe 70 or so men who were all standing around a car. And there was somebody in a uniform, a Ukrainian in uniform, who was explaining to them how to throw a molotov cocktail inside a vehicle to the best effect. There are a lot of people here who are trying to get as much training as they can, in order to be able to face Russian forces if and when they come.
The CNN host then spoke to a man who was identified as having been a construction worker until the invasion began.
The man had a stockpile of flak vests, food and camouflage for tanks.
“You have a message for Vladimir Putin,” Cooper asked the man, “What is it?”
“What would I tell him?” the man asked, as Cooper relayed the words in English. “I would tell him he can go f*uck himself.”
Lviv has not faced attacks from Russian forces, such as those seen in cities such as Kyiv and Kharkiv.
