‘I’ll Beat Him On My Own’: Nikki Haley Says She Doesn’t ‘Need A Judge’ To Take Trump Off The Ballot In 2024
Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R) slammed Colorado’s Supreme Court for ruling to remove former President Donald Trump from the state’s 2024 presidential primary ballot because she does not “need a judge” to beat the frontrunner.
The GOP presidential candidate joined Fox News’s Martha MacCallum on Wednesday afternoon reacting to the state’s Supreme Court 4-3 decision yesterday barring Trump from running for office again due to his actions on January 6th, citing the 14th Amendment.
Haley vowed to “defeat” Trump on her own terms while slamming “liberal justices” for removing him off the ballot as a threat to democracy. Trump has already vowed to appeal the decision all the way to the Supreme Court for a final ruling. Haley said:
The idea that judges are going to take it upon themselves to decide who can and can’t be on the ballot is truly unthinkable. And I think the people of Colorado should be furious. I am going to defeat Donald Trump on my own. I don’t need a judge to go take him off the ballot. I don’t think he should be president. I think I should be president. I think our country would do a lot better if I was. But we should have this race fair and square with him on the ballot just like everybody else. And the idea that we would go and say, just because these liberal justices don’t like him, they want to take him off the ballot. That’s not a democracy. That’s not who we are. That’s not what we need to do.
In recent weeks, Haley has gained significant momentum in the 2024 Republican primary by climbing to 21% support in the New Hampshire primary with some polls showing her tied with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis at the national level, according to Real Clear Politics.
Trump has not been formally charged for his actions on January 6th, but criminal indictments in both Washington, DC and Georgia over his role in the events of that day.
