‘I’m the Host!’ Sean Hannity Kills PETA Segment After Three Minutes When Guest Hectors Him for Eating Meat

Fox News host Sean Hannity killed a segment on animal mascots in sports after just 3-minutes with PETA guest Ashley Byrne, who slammed his “carnivore diet” as cruel and unhealthy.

The appearance came after the animal rights group sent a letter to the commissioner of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) protesting the use of animals as mascots, citing the Texas Longhorns football team mascot Bevo, a longhorn cow.

Hannity invited Byrne on his show Thursday to discuss the issue, kicking off the debate by asking: “Are you comparing animals to humans?”

“Actually, we are saying that humans are willing to be in the stadiums in mascot costumes performing, whereas animals are dragged in, and it’s a terrifying environment for them. It’s just common sense and basic kindness,” the guest replied.

“Should animals have the same rights as humans?” Hannity pressed.

“Animals should have consideration of the fact that they feel pain or fear,” Byrne said. “They don’t need to drive or vote but they do deserve for us to consider the fact that they suffer in environments like a stadium full of screaming fans.”

Quickly pivoting, the host directed the conversation to the broader and more debated topic of eating meat.

“Let me ask you this question,” he began. “My diet consists of… basically I’m on the carnivore diet. A keto-friendly diet consists of eggs and meat. Do you have a problem with my diet?”

The guest shot back: “You might have a problem eventually because they have higher rates of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, stroke… The meat and egg industries are very cruel to animals.”

“Do you have a problem with people like me…” Hannity attempted.

The guest cut in: “I have a problem with the meat industry forcing animals to live in their own waste…”

“Hang on,” Hannity laughed. “Do you have a problem with people like me eating meat?”

The guest continued her point: “…forcing them to die violent deaths. And animals should not be hung by their ankles and have their throats slashed to become a burger.”

Hannity replied: “Okay, well, I like that burger and I choose to eat it, would you outlaw me eating it?”

“You know, I think if people could see the way animals suffer in slaughterhouses, they would never eat a burger again,” she said.

Throughout, Hannity tried to interject asking if Byrne would outlaw meat consumption, calling her name in a bid for her attention.

“Ashley I know you’ve been trained by PETA PR people,” he said as his guest continued.

“Should we outlaw cruelty to dogs?” Byrne asked.

“I’m asking the questions here! I’m the host,” Hannity said, exasperated.

“Alright, we gotta go. You won’t answer,” the host said, cutting to ad break.
