Though she is not the first lady, the president’s first wife still wants some credit for Donald Trump’s political rise — particularly now that she’s cashing in on her ex’s White House via a new book titled Raising Trump.
In an interview with CBS, Ivana Trump was asked if the president “wouldn’t be who he is without you?” — to which she responded by smugly saying, “That’s for sure.”
Despite the couple splitting apart roughly 25 years ago, Ivana has still maintained a close relationship with her children Donald Jr., Eric, and Ivanka — who she says she is “very proud [of].” Ivana went on to both take credit for her kids’ success — rather than crediting their faither Trump — and called their political activism “articulate” and “intelligent. Watching their campaign work caused her to write this new book, she added.
For Trump and Ivana, things fell apart after it was revealed that the now-president was cheating on her with Marla Maples — who she seems to still have bad blood with. “Well, I don’t talk about [Maples]… She’s a showgirl. Never [achieved] anything in her life,” seethed Ivana to CBS News correspondent Jim Axelrod.
Despite these bitter feelings Maples, Ivana harbors no ill-will toward said that she “gets along” with Trump’s current wife, First Lady Melania Trump.
