Jim Jordan Blasts Cohen as Bitter for Not Getting White House Job: ‘You Didn’t Get Brought to the Dance!’

House Oversight Committee Ranking Member Jim Jordan grilled Michael Cohen at today’s big congressional hearing, asking him about all the lies and deception he engaged in.

He brought up examples like him filing false tax returns and his false statements about finances and even the Women for Cohen Twitter account he set up, and Jordan asked if he engaged in all that to protect Trump.

Jordan told Cohen, “You have a history of lying over and over and over again.”

He quoted what SDNY said about his crimes before telling Cohen he finds it remarkable that, given everything he’s said about Trump, he worked for him for 10 years.

And then he asked, “Mr. Cohen, how long did you work in the White House?”

“I never worked in the White House,” Cohen said.

“That’s the point, isn’t it, Mr. Cohen?” Jordan asked.

“No, sir,” Cohen said.

“Yes, it is,” Jordan said.

“No, it’s not, sir,” Cohen responded.

“You wanted to work in the White House and you didn’t get brought to the dance,” Jordan fired back.

Cohen denied wanting to go to the White House, saying he was “offered jobs” and claiming he had a story of Trump “reaming out Reince Priebus because I had not taken a job where Mr. Trump wanted me to, which was working with Don McGahn at the White House general counsel’s office.”

Jordan shot back:

“Here’s what I see. I see a guy who worked for ten years and trashing the guy he worked for for ten years. Didn’t get a job in the White House. And now you’re behaving just like everyone else who got fired or didn’t get the job they wanted. Like Andy McCabe, like James Comey, same kind of selfish motivation after you don’t get the thing you want. That’s what I see now and that’s what the American people see.”
