Kayleigh McEnany Defends Trump After Rob Porter Comments: He Appreciates and Empowers Women

President Trump has come under fire in the past day for his comments about Rob Porter, the White House aide accused of domestic abuse by two ex-wives. He offered compliments to Porter and said they all wish him well, while not mentioning anything about his victims.

On MSNBC today, Alex Witt confronted McEnany over Trump’s comments and whether the President has an “insensitivity” on these matters.

McEnany said the following:

“Absolutely not. This is a president that’s hired women at record rates, he appreciates women, he’s empowered them throughout his administration, and his response is one we’ve seen from countless individuals in media when we’ve seen these abuses come to light.”

Witt pushed back and noted how Trump didn’t mention the two ex-wives, saying there’s a “tone-deafness.”

McEnany went ahead and just directly invoked Matt Lauer to tell the MSNBC anchor that Trump’s remarks were similar to ones made by her own colleagues when the allegations about Lauer came out.

She also reaffirmed the RNC’s position that when there is a finding of guilt in the case of Steve Wynn, then they will give back the money he donated.
