Jimmy Kimmel to Caitlyn Jenner: ‘Do You Regret Voting For President Trump?’
On Tuesday night, Jimmy Kimmel put Caitlyn Jenner in the hot seat for her politics.
“Do you regret voting for President Trump?” he asked.
“I don’t agree with everything he’s doing,” she responded, “but I have always been — I’m older, I grew up in a country when you actually said the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag at school.” That remark was welcomed by applause.
Jenner was critical of Trump for rolling back Obama-era protections for transgender students. She was also spotted at the White House back in April and reportedly met with Trump officials.
She elaborated that she believes in “limited government,” which makes her “on the Republican side.”
“I never really outwardly came out and supported him,” she clarified. “I supported whoever the Republican candidate was going to be, but the press kinda puts you there.”
Jenner did acknowledge that Trump has done stuff that she thought was “very good.”
“What?” Kimmel jokingly asked.
She responded with the Supreme Court nomination of Neil Gorsuch and the cutting back of regulations for businesses.
“It’s tough for anybody to do business here in the United States,” she added. “And I would like to see the United States the best place in the world to do business.”
Kimmel did not ask Jenner about her floating the idea of running for office.
