Lindsey Graham Dubiously Claims Trump Had Nothing To Do ‘With the Robinson Guy’ Amid ‘Black Nazi’ Scandal

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) claimed on Monday that former President Donald Trump had nothing to do with North Carolina Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson after the Trump endorsee allegedly made disturbing comments about sex, slavery, and being a “black NAZI” on a porn forum.

Reacting on Fox News’ Hannity to the scandal surrounding Robinson’s alleged comments, Graham protested, “Donald Trump didn’t do anything with Mark Robinson. What if we ran an ad against Walz because his preacher said something about praising the attack of 9/11? What if we ran an ad saying he said something nice about a cleric who celebrated October 7th? They would kick the crap out of us because we would be having guilt by association.”

He argued, “When somebody says something and I have a relationship with them, I don’t own all of that. The reason we’re not running these ads is that there would be a firestorm that it’s unfair.”

Graham continued:

We’d be crucified politically if we did that. That’s literally their campaign in North Carolina, is trying to make people believe that Donald Trump somehow is involved with Mar– with the Robinson guy. Donald Trump knew nothing about this, I knew nothing about it. They’re trying to guilt by association. If you’re a Republican, you own Mark Robinson.

On the authenticity of Robinson’s alleged posts, the senator concluded, “Now whether it’s true or not, I don’t know, but Robinson needs to give us something to hang our head on if it’s not true, because if it is true he’s unfit. But I’m not gonna sit by and watch Donald Trump get smeared yet again. This is literally guilt by association, it needs to stop.”

Trump endorsed Robinson for governor of North Carolina in March, referring to the Black politician as “Martin Luther King on steroids.”

Last week, it was reported that Trump had no plans to pull his endorsement of Robinson amid the ongoing scandal.
