Lou Dobbs Continues Calls for Trump to Fire Mueller: End This ‘Attempted Coup Against the President’
Fox Business host Lou Dobbs continued lobbying for the firing of special counsel Robert Mueller by President Donald Trump tonight, asking guests, “Why can’t [the probe] be stopped?”
Dobbs, who spent several segments of his show voicing outrage at the judge presiding over Michael Flynn’s sentencing hearing, even saying he “became part of the Mueller witch hunt,” described Trump’s former national security advisor as a “poor man.”
“The judge basically tried to gut this man today instead of defend him as a defendant in front of the awesome power of federal prosecutors,” he said. “It is outrageous.”
“The president who has been calling this a witch hunt from the outset — we can call it lots of things, but what it isn’t is a responsible nonpartisan investigation and prosecution,” Dobbs continued. “It can only have one purpose, and that is to attack this administration. It is a group of radical Dems assembled under the special counsel rubric and attacking this president from every corner.”
“Why can’t it be stopped?” Asked the Fox Business host who the president frequently watches and promotes.
His guests, husband and wife law partners Joe diGenov and Victoria Toensing, slightly veered the conversation away from firing the special counsel, suggesting instead that the president should wait until Bill Barr becomes attorney general and let him limit Mueller’s investigation.
“It was designed to get Flynn to get at Trump, it was all part of a plot to frame the president of the United States and to take him down,” diGenov said. “The president needs a new attorney general Bill Barr so he can take control and supervise what’s going on.”
Ultimately, the guest agreed with Dobbs, adding, “If necessary,” Barr should “end it.”
The host continued pushing the point, asking “why is there this concern about the politics of deciding to fire the special counsel” when “RINOs” in the GOP and Democrats are going to oppose him anyway.
“Why not end this absolute attempted coup against the president of the United States?” Dobbs seethed.
