Matthews: ‘Absurd’ for Cruz to Say the Media Is Nice to Hillary
Chris Matthews said tonight that it’s “absurd” for Ted Cruz to claim the mainstream media goes easy on Hillary Clinton.
Cruz’s anti-media remarks at last night’s CNBC debate were an immediate highlight. At one point, he said at the Democratic debate, all the questions were “fawning” and along the lines of “Which of you is more handsome and wise?”
But Matthews tonight showed a bunch of clips showing how Clinton actually got some tough questions from Anderson Cooper at the Democratic debate.
Matthews rolled his eyes and said people should be smart enough to understand the difference between straight news and opinion programming. He said The New York Times is “not nice” to Clinton and added, “The idea the so-called media in New York is somehow carrying on some campaign for Hillary Clinton is an absurdity.”
“And people who believe it,” he continued, “either don’t pay attention or they’re not simply being honest people.”
Reporter April Ryan agreed and said that Clinton is “held up to a higher standard” by the media.
