Megyn Kelly Says Christine Ford is ‘Running Out of Options’: ‘She’s Not in a Position to Demand Protocols’
On Wednesday evening, NBC host Megyn Kelly appeared on Hardball and weighed in on the allegation made against Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh.
Kelly began by telling MSNBC’s Chris Matthews that Kavanaugh’s accuser Dr. Christine Blasey Ford is “running out of options” ahead of Monday’s scheduled hearing.
“I think she needs to show up on Monday and offer her testimony if she wants to be heard because for better or for worse, she is not in charge of this,” Kelly said. “The Senate is in charge of this. That committee is in charge of this and their obligation is to provide advice and consent to the president on his judicial nominee. So they get to decide what will inform that decision.”
The daytime talkshow host explained that the Senate Judiciary Committee decided to reopen the hearings as they already consider that as an accommodation and she dinged Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) for knowing about the allegation during the original round of hearings.
“They’re reopening it and giving her the chance to speak publicly, privately, Sen. Grassley even said that we’ll send somebody out to California to interview you and she’s rejected all of those,” Kelly told Matthews. “Sen. Cornyn is right that she’s not in a position to demand protocols. It’s not her right.”
Kelly acknowledged the difficulty there is for victims to come forward, but it’s “do or die” if she wants to prevent Kavanaugh’s confirmation. And when asked if Kavanaugh’s friend and alleged witness Mark Judge should be brought in to testify, she argued that Ford must be “on the record” first.
