Mollie Hemingway on Trump’s Media Attacks: ‘Clownish’ Media Gives Him ‘Ammunition He Needs’

Mollie Hemingway, Federalist writer and former SpyGate proponent, appeared on Fox News’ MediaBuzz Sunday to give her best “whatabout this!” defense of President Donald Trump‘s latest tweets.

MediaBuzz host Howard Kurtz asked Hemingway about Trump’s Sunday morning tweet in which he yet again called the press “the Enemy of the People,” “very dangerous & sick,” and claimed they “can also cause War.”

“Is that over the top?” Kurtz asked.

Hemingway ignored the question.

“Well, this is why I think that the best way to hold Donald Trump accountable as a media organization is just to cover him straight,” she said. “When you behave in such a clownish fashion, as so many people are, where they’re just open and honest about how much they view their job as resisting him, it gives him the ammunition he needs.”

Hemingway cited a recent poll showing a large percentage of Americans believe “the media regularly put out fake, false and misleading information,” arguing that proves Trump’s anti-press rhetoric is “a talking point that resonates with the American people.”

Hemingway called on the media to “take their jobs more seriously.” (No mention of the Trump taking his job, the presidency, more seriously.)

“I would say Trump’s attacks resonate with some of the American people,” Kurtz noted.
