Morning Joe Mocks ‘Shameful’ VA Nominee After Allegations: ‘Sounded Like Hitler’s Doctor’

White House physician Ronny Jackson, President Donald Trump’s nominee to lead the department of Veterans Affairs, is facing scrutiny over allegations of past misconduct.

It was reported on Monday that his Senate confirmation hearing would be postponed pending a review of the allegations, which include “a hostile work environment, excessive drinking on the job and improperly dispensing meds,” per a CBS News reporter.

Morning Joe took to mocking the Rear Admiral, who made headlines in January for his briefing with White House reporters in which he extolled the president’s “excellent” health. Just a couple months later, the physician was Trump’s pick to lead the VA.

“That display about the president’s health I thought was quite incredible,” Mika Brzezinski said.

“Incredible is a very nice word for it Mika,” Joe Scarborough noted. “I thought it was embarrassing. It was just shameful.”

“You could hear a sucking sound in the room,” Brzezinski said.

Scarborough continued to joke that when Jackson said Trump had great genes and that he might live to be 200 years old if he changed his diet, he “sounded like Hitler’s doctor.”

The Morning Joe host mused that a comparison to Putin’s doctor or the doctor of a North Korean dictator might be a better fit.

“The fearless leader’s genetics are so pure and so strong that fearless leader could live to be 200 years old,” he joked.

MSNBC’s Willie Geist pointed out that Trump gave him the VA nod because he “liked the way the guy talked about” him.

“There was no process, there was no interview, there was no vetting. It was President Trump liking someone who said nice things about him and now they’re in this position of maybe — not there yet — but maybe having to pull his nomination.”
