Former Solicitor General Neal Katyal: Donald Trump’s Best Option Is Impeachment

Neal Kaytal appeared with Don Lemon Thursday night and provided insight into the new bombshell Buzzfeed News report. Kaytal served as the Acting Solicitor General under the Obama Administration and helped draft guidelines for how Special Counsel can report his or her findings.

During his discussion, Kaytal said that what Buzzfeed News report is a “federal crime for sure,” adding that” it is exactly the kind of stuff that founders feared and why impeachment clause exists.”

“I am not sure Donald Trump at this point has anything else” but impeachment, Kaytal said.

Buzzfeed News reported Thursday night that, according to two sources, President Donald Trump directed his former attorney Michael Cohen to lie to Congress in testimony about the Trump Organization negotiations with Russia over the building of a Trump Tower in Moscow. If true, suborning perjury like this represents a level of obstruction of justice previously seen by President Trump.

In Kaytal’s esteem, Trump “almost wants to be impeached at this point of his behavior with the wall and such, he has no domestic agenda left. His domestic agenda is Twitter plus the wall. That’s about it. Impeachment would actually allow him to do what he loves which is be a snowflake and pretend he’s the victim and the Democrats are this or that.”
