‘Never Going To Be Speaker’: Fox News Host Roasts Jim Jordan’s Continued Losses

Fox News host Marie Harf slammed Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) during a Friday airing of Outnumbered after he failed to win the speakership on the third consecutive ballot.

The Republican majority is currently in chaos after Kevin McCarthy was ousted after eight Republicans joined Democrats in vacating the speaker. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) led the charge in the GOP caucus to remove McCarthy after the government narrowly avoided a shutdown.

Jordan has not been able to generate enough support to reach the 217 votes necessary to become speaker. He has struggled to convince nearly two dozen moderate Republicans to back him after Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) recently pulled out of the leadership race.

On Friday, Jordan lost Republican votes from his fellow party lawmakers during the third ballot of voting for House speaker candidacy. Harf slammed the Ohio Republican, noting he is “never going to be speaker.”

Not long after, Jordan lost in the secret ballot and is no longer the presumed nominee for the party, which seemed to bear out Harf’s prediction. The Fox contributor then went in on Republicans at large.

“They have no interest in governing. They are they’re not acting like a serious party right now,” Harf noted. “Jim Jordan has a ton of flaws. The reason he can’t get the votes is because there are a lot of members who are either in Biden districts that Biden won or just in swing districts that Jim Jordan’s, you know, embracing of the January 6th insurrection.”

She added, “Politically, Jim Jordan is not a winning leader for the Republicans, and the Republicans know it. And that’s why he can’t get the votes…Jim Jordan is never going be speaker.”

The absence of a House speaker has led to a host of problems for Congress including an inability to provide aide to Israel amid their war with Hamas and Ukraine as they battle an invasion with Russia.
