Retiring Police Officer Gets Amazing Surprise Radio Call on His Last Day on Patrol

A Southbridge, Massachusetts police officer got a big surprise on his last day of service after years with the department, and it came over the police radio.

First, the Police Chief Shane Woodson called in to give the officer an official send-off.

“Southbridge Police Department and the Town of Southbridge want to thank you for your dedicated service to the law enforcement profession,” said the Chief. “Wish you the best of luck on your future endeavors. Congrats, brother.”

The call wasn’t over, however, as another voice came over the radio to offer congratulations and thanks.

“It is my honor to acknowledge this Code 5, to set free a man who has sacrificed so much of his time for all of us. Officer Ledoux, badge number 1041, dad, you are officially Code 5.”

His son Nate had returned home for the occasion, surprising his dad – mostly.

An emotional Ledoux said “I called that,” meaning he had a feeling that his son might show up for his last day.

It’s great video, and a great palate cleanser if you’ve been reading politics all day already.

Here is the full video:

Congratulations, Officer Ledoux.
