Rubio Slams Trump’s Earpiece Excuse: ‘Ku Klux Klan Comes Through Pretty Clearly’

Marco RubioRepublican presidential candidate Marco Rubio continued his attacks on Donald Trump‘s refusal to denounce the Ku Klux Klan during an interview, attacking Trump’s excuse that he didn’t hear the question during a speech Monday.

“He can’t win… that’s the other big problem,” he told the Tennessee crowd as they chanted “Dump Trump.” “He’s unelectable now. He refused to criticize the Ku Klux Klan.”

“This morning on the Today show, he blamed it on a bad earpiece, that he couldn’t hear the question,” Rubio said. “I don’t care how bad the earpiece is, ‘Ku Klux Klan’ comes through pretty clearly, and he refused to criticize it.”

“How can someone like that be our nominee?” he asked. “How can the nominee of the Republican Party, of the party of Lincoln, the party of Reagan, the party of hope and the party of optimism, nominate someone who refuses to criticize the Ku Klux Klan? Or distance himself from an avowed racist like David Duke?”

Rubio warned voters that the media knew Trump was unelectable, but they were propping him up so that he’d be defeated by Hillary Clinton in the general election. “They’re waiting so they can descend on him like the hounds of Hell, they will shred him to piece, and then they’ll get Hillary Clinton elected,” he said.
