Rudy Giuliani Defends Barr Against Media Attacks: ‘There is Nothing Political About’ Him
Former New York mayor and Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani defended Attorney General Robert Barr amid media attacks against the top law official for not releasing the full report from special counsel Robert Mueller.
Giuliani, who made the comments during a Fox News interview with Laura Ingraham tonight, began the segment by knocking CNN host Chris Cuomo as “pathetic” and “really” sad for mocking Giuliani after he demanded Cuomo apologize for his coverage of the Trump-Russia saga.
Ingraham then outlined comments made by cable news pundits on CNN and MSNBC attacking Barr.
“There is nothing political about Bill Barr,” Giuliani said in response to criticisms of the attorney general’s decision to just release a summary of Mueller’s findings. “He wasn’t at the Trump victory party, like [Andrew Weissmann] who was crying at Hillary’s at Christmas party… Bill Barr is a professional law enforcement guy and professional lawyer.”
He continued by insisting Barr is not like the “political operatives Clinton or Obama had.”
Giuliani later suggested that accusations against Barr are beyond belief.
“If you think that Bill Barr made a mistake, what do you think Schumer and Nancy Pelosi and Adam Shift — shiftless? — would do?” He asked. “They would be yelling and screaming that he should be prosecuted. He has to be very careful and maybe he will go to a judge and get it released.”
Barr has been routinely knocked in the media for sending a memo to the Department of Justice prior to his attorney general nomination insisting obstruction of justice charges against Trump are out of the question.
