Steve Doocy: At Some Point the White House Is Going to Have to Address Issue of Biden ‘Messing Stuff Up’
Steve Doocy went to bat for his son Peter Doocy Thursday morning and flatly insisted that “at some point, they’re going to have to address” President Joe Biden’s gaffes. “He’s messing stuff up!”
Another apparent confusion on behalf of the commander-in-chief occurred at a private fundraiser event in Manhattan Wednesday evening. Biden mentioned a 2021 meeting attended by former German Chancellor Helmut Kohl. Unfortunately for Biden (and Kohl, of course), the former German leader died in 2017.
This came just days after Biden made a similar mistake, confusing current French President François Macron for former President François Mitterrand, who died in 1996. Of course, pobody’s nerfect, but when the president shows a pattern of confusing mistakes while running for reelection, even the most passionate set of eyebrows are raised.
During a Tuesday White House Press Briefing, Peter Doocy asked Press Secretary Karine Jean Pierre, “How is President Biden ever going to convince the three-quarters of voters who are worried about his physical and mental health that he is okay — even though in Las Vegas, he told a story about recently talking to a French president who died in 1996?” Doocy was referring to an NBC News poll which found 76 percent of Americans have “major” or “moderate” concerns about the president “not having the necessary physical or mental health” to serve in a second term.
Jean-Pierre promptly dismissed the question, replying, “I’m not even going to go down that rabbit hole with you, sir.” Jean-Pierre replied.
During Thursday morning’s Fox & Friends, Jacqui Heinrich reported on the follow-up Biden gaffe:
For the second time this week, Biden told a story about a 2021 summit detailing a conversation with a foreign leader who died years ago. The last time he told this exact same story, on Sunday, he swapped out French President Macron for the late French President Mitterrand, who died in 1996. This time, he swapped out German Chancellor Angela Merkel for the late German Chancellor Helmut Kohl, who died in 2017. Talking about January 6th, Biden said, quote, I sat down and I said, well, America’s back. And the president of France looked at me and said, for how long? I never thought of it this way. Then Helmut Kohl of Germany looked at me and said, “What would you say, Mr. President, if you picked up the London Times tomorrow morning and learned that a thousand people had broken down the doors?”
Biden’s aides apparently never told him that he screwed up because he told this exact same story using Helmut, Kohl’s name at two events last night, 30 blocks and three avenues apart. So during the long motorcade, no one told the president that he got it wrong. And you should probably fix it for the next event.
“So, Jackie, your colleague Peter Doocy asked Karine Jean-Pierre about, you know, ‘why is the president saying he just talked to a dead guy?'” Steve Doocy followed. “And she said, ‘I’m not going to go down that rabbit hole.'”
“At some point, they’re going to have to address,” Doocy averred. “He’s messing stuff up.”
