Trump ‘Had No Sense of Who He Was in Front Of’: Maggie Haberman Reports on Bizarre Rant at Donor Dinner

Former President Donald Trump appears to have “no sense” for the kinds of crowds he is in front of at any given time and is randomly “behaving in various ways,” according to CNN’s Maggie Haberman.

Haberman and two other New York Times journalists reported over the weekend that Trump used a slur to describe Vice President Kamala Harris while dining with a group of donors at Trump Tower last month. The former president ranted at his guests and again complained about the number of Jewish voters who support Harris. At one point, he called the vice president “retarded.”

Appearing on Tuesday’s edition of The Source on CNN, Haberman said Trump is “irritated” that Harris is raising more money.

“What was notable about it is that he’s at this dinner with these incredibly wealthy donors or potential donors who are members of a group called the American Opportunity Alliance,” she said. “Some of them are huge pro-Israel backers. And he starts trashing Jews who don’t back him. He uses a slur to describe Kamala Harris’s mental state. It goes on and on and on like this, and he seemed to have – according to the seven people we talked to who were briefed about this dinner – it was as if he had no sense of who he was in front of or who he was he’s talking to.”

Haberman went on to say, “It’s like he’s devoid of context. It’s like he’s just sort of showing up and behaving in various ways.”
