Trump Suggests Biden’s Cancer Diagnosis Was Covered Up: ‘Somebody Is Not Telling the Facts’

President Donald Trump suggested his predecessor’s prostate cancer diagnosis was covered up by the previous administration.

On Sunday, the office of former President Joe Biden revealed he had been diagnosed with an “aggressive” form of prostate cancer. Shortly afterward, Trump released a statement wishing Biden well.

“Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis,” he wrote. “We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery.”

Trump took questions from reporters at the White House on Monday, where CNN’s Kaitlan Collins asked if he would be phoning Biden.

“Are you gonna call your predecessor?” she asked.

Trump responded, “I think it’s very sad,” and did not answer the question. Instead, he pivoted to doctors’ handling of Biden’s health and said that “it takes a long time” to get such an aggressive form of cancer as Biden has.

“I think that if you take a look, it’s the same doctor that said that Joe was cognitively fine,” he added, alluding to his long-running attacks on Biden’s mental acuity. “There are things going on that the public wasn’t informed of. And I think somebody’s gonna have to speak to his doctor if it’s the same, or even if it’s two separate doctors. Why wasn’t the cognitive ability– why wasn’t that discussed?”

Later he added, “I think people should try and find out what happened because ultimately, I don’t know if it had anything to do with the hospital. Walter Reed is really good. They’re some of the best doctors I’ve ever seen. I don’t even know if they were involved. But a doctor was involved in each case. Maybe it was the same doctor. And somebody is not telling the facts. It’s a big, that’s a big problem.”

Some conservatives, such as Vice President JD Vance, have used Biden’s diagnosis to reiterate their criticisms.

“Look, I mean, first of all, of course, we wish the best for the former president’s health,” Vance said. “Look, I will say, whether the right time to have this conversation is now or at some point in the future. We really do need to be honest about whether the former president was capable of doing the job.”

Meanwhile, Donald Trump Jr. mocked former First Lady Jill Biden, who has a doctorate in education, asking how she could have “missed” her husband’s diagnosis.
