Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy branded Fox News host Sean Hannity “fake news” on Thursday and suggested he was now part of “the swamp” following a heated interview.
After the two men clashed in a fiery interview — which culminated in Ramaswamy telling Hannity that Tucker Carlson was a better interviewer — Ramaswamy published a series of social media posts lashing out at the Fox News host.
“For years, @seanhannity has railed against ‘fake news.’ I guess he’s become it. My comments about lobbyists were about Azerbaijan, not Israel. This interview was sponsored by @NikkiHaley,” wrote Ramaswamy, along with a laughing emoji.
In another post, Ramaswamy pointed out that Hannity’s remark about people who have “never held public office” not being “qualified” for president would have “disqualified” former President Donald Trump in 2016.
“@seanhannity would have disqualified 2016 Donald Trump, who would go on to become the greatest president of the 21st Century,” he wrote. “I’m the new outsider and the Establishment is flailing and will try to prop up their flavor-of-the month puppet: last month (DeSantis), (Nikki) this month. If you strike the swamp, the swamp strikes back.”
Ramaswamy also retweeted a post which read, “Sean Hannity just got exposed while interviewing @VivekGRamaswamy. Be a journalist and stop capping for @NikkiHaley. That was absolutely disgusting.”
During the interview, Hannity confronted Ramaswamy with remarks he made about Israel, the defense industry, and Republican primary rival Nikki Haley, who he accused of being in “a position to get wealthier from war.”
As Hannity pummelled Ramaswamy over the remarks, Ramaswamy protested, “You have been laughing about the fake news media how many times for the last several years? And now you’re buying the mainstream media narrative when you know how corrupt it is.”
