WATCH: Youtuber Nella Rose Confronts Nigel Farage On Immigration Remarks
GB News host Nigel Farage found himself at the centre of a heated debate on Wednesday’s episode of ITV’s reality show I’m A Celebrity after Youtuber Nella Rose confronted him about his past comments on immigration.
Despite the pair having suffered the stomach-churning bushtucker trial together on day two, Rose took the former Ukip and Brexit party MEP to task on his right-wing views, particularly on immigration.
“Let’s get everything out in the open. All the tea is coming out now… apparently you’re anti-immigrant?” she said.
Farage, attempting to downplay the accusations, replied: “If you came with me through South London, you’d be astonished.”
Rose, whose father died in 2016, expressed her discomfort with being labelled as “one of the numbers” in Farage’s immigration rhetoric.
Farage dismissed the “accusations” as “grossly unfair.” He continued: “Anti-immigrant, right? No, no, all I’ve said is we cannot go on with the numbers coming to Britain that are coming.”
The debate intensified as Farage cited a population increase in Britain since 2000, attributing it to immigration and linking it to issues like NHS funding.
The debate got more heated. Rose said: “I’m stopping you getting a GP appointment? You’re not getting an appointment because the NHS is lacking funding. I bet you anything if every single immigrant or from immigrant descent was to leave the UK, all your doctors, go… most of your doctors are Asian right? Most of your nurses are African women, right? You want us gone, that’s all I understood.”
“My main point was that we’ve got into this jungle and I really like you and I want to know why everyone hated you,” she said.
Farage’s appearance on the show follows in the footsteps of other politicians like former Health Secretary Matt Hancock, bringing politics into the reality TV sphere. An ongoing boycott led by campaigners protesting Farage’s appearance on the show has already had a significant impact on viewing figures, down approximately 2 million since last year.
