Napolitano: Trump’s Directing Jeff Sessions to Help GOP ‘Fodder’ for Mueller Probe
Judge Andrew Napolitano provided some piqued criticism of President Donald Trump’s overt politicization of his Department of Justice, claiming that yesterday’s tweet was “perfect fodder for the cannon of Bob Mueller and Never Trumpers.”
Yesterday Trump raised a lot of bipartisan eyebrows when he criticized his Attorney General Jeff Sessions for ostensibly hurting the Republican party’s efforts to maintain the majority in the House. Trump tweeted:
Two long running, Obama era, investigations of two very popular Republican Congressmen were brought to a well publicized charge, just ahead of the Mid-Terms, by the Jeff Sessions Justice Department. Two easy wins now in doubt because there is not enough time. Good job Jeff……

The Commander-in-chief drew broad criticism for blaming the Department of Justice (who’s mission transcends the political landscape) for hurting the GOP’s “two easy wins” now in question because of the timing of legal inquiries. The two cases are Rep. Duncan Hunter’s alleged misuse of campaign donations and Rep. Chris Collin’s alleged insider trading improprieties.
Napolitano claimed that “when the president says these things — basically says I want to you use Justice Department to help the Republican Party — that is fodder for the cannon of Bob Mueller and Never Trumpers and all of those who wish the president ill,” before adding “it’s his using his own words out of his own mouth to help put him in a box of the use of government for political purpose.”
