Sarah Sanders to Reporters: Russia Meeting Canceled Over Ukraine, Not Mueller
White House press secretary Sarah Sanders reaffirmed President Donald Trump‘s reasoning to cancel a previously expected meeting with Russian president Vladimir Putin at the G20 summit in Argentina.
Trump canceled the face-to-face between the two leaders in a Tweet while aboard Air Force One en route to Buenos Aires.
Based on the fact that the ships and sailors have not been returned to Ukraine from Russia, I have decided it would be best for all parties concerned to cancel my previously scheduled meeting….

….in Argentina with President Vladimir Putin. I look forward to a meaningful Summit again as soon as this situation is resolved!

Speaking to reporters, Sanders slammed special counsel Robert Mueller‘s investigation while dismissing Russian reports that the reason Trump canceled the meeting with Putin was because of domestic issues — namely, the guilty plea of Michael Cohen.
Sanders instead insisted the cancellation was a consequence of Russian aggression against Ukrainian ships in the Kerch Strait.
Statement from @presssec: “The Russian Witch Hunt Hoax, which is hopefully now nearing an end, is doing very well. Unfortunately, it probably does undermine our relationship with Russia. However, the reason for our canceled meeting is Ukraine.”
