Two Teens Arrested for Attacking Marine Vet: ‘Asked Me If I Believe That Black Lives Mattered’

This week two teenagers were arrested in connection with an attack on a Marine veteran at a McDonald’s in Washington, D.C. earlier this month.

Chris Marquez explained to Fox 5 DC last week, “They were asking me if I believe that black lives mattered. They asked me that a few times and I was ignoring them at first because I felt they were intimidating me. They were being hostile. That’s pretty much how they approached me and how they were talking to me and then they started calling me a racist.”

He was attacked outside the McDonald’s. In court this week, one witness said he was being asked about #BlackLivesMatter and didn’t answer; another said Marquez was drunk and he used the n-word at one point.

Marquez was asked in court if he’s a racist. He said he is not. He told Fox 5 DC that he never used the n-word.

The male suspect is being charged with assault with a deadly weapon, while the female suspect is being charged with robbery because she allegedly stole a student ID and other things from Marquez’s wallet.
