Axed: FL Firefighter Gets Suspended for Painting the Confederate Flag
It’s always Florida. Why is it always Florida. And even when the Confederate flag is involved, it’s Florida, because an Orange County firefighter was suspended after a house burned down and his lieutenant discovered he had painted the Confederate flag on his axe. And the icing on top: the homeowner was African-American.
And this wasn’t just any firefighter, it was the son of the assistant fire chief. He explained it was to “touch up” the axe because “it signified his small town roots and core values of family and hard work.”
The firefighter, however, is not facing a significant suspension, since it only reportedly lasts for 12 hours.
