China Responds to Hacking Accusations from the U.S.
Yesterday the U.S. government revealed that hackers breached security at the Office of Personnel Management and obtained personal information from up to 4 million current and former federal government employees.
The hackers were reportedly traced back to China, and today China’s state-run news agency fired back in an editorial today.
According to The L.A. Times, they said the claim was “baseless” and “obviously another case of Washington’s habitual slander against Beijing on cyber security.”
A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman also said that “it’s irresponsible and unscientific to make conjectural, trumped-up allegations without deep investigation.”
He said he hopes the U.S. will stop making “unverified allegations” and instead “show more trust and participate more in co-operation.”
