David Axelrod Mocks Hillary Clinton’s Attempts at ‘Authenticity’
Former Obama advisor David Axelrod took to Twitter to make fun of Hillary Clinton’s plan to suddenly fake authenticity, saying it was like something out of the satirical newspaper The Onion.
The impetus for the tweet was a New York Times piece detailing the Clinton campaign’s plan for the candidate to “show more humor and heart” in the coming months. More than one political observer noted the irony in the fact that campaign officials and a candidate apparently had to plan beforehand how to act authentically.
Axelrod, who recently joined CNN as a political contributor, seemingly felt the same way:
.Today’s @nytimes story on HRC read more like The Onion: Her detailed plan to show more authenticity and spontaneity. #Justdoit!
