Elisabeth Hasselback: It’s Not ‘Valid’ To Attack O’Donnell Over ‘Witchcraft’

video

Needless to say, the women of The View (who have all probably been called some variation of ‘witchy’ in their day) took some time today to weigh on Christine O’Donnell‘s “witchcraft” remark. Elisabeth Hasselbeck tangled with Joy Behar over whether it was even fair to be discussing O’Donnell’s witchy history.

Asked Hasselbeck: “”Do you think this is even a valid thing to look at?”

Responded Behar: I think it shows you how crazy the girl is, doesn’t it? How many crazy people do we have to have in office?”

One shudders to know what the answer to that question will be come Nov. 2nd. Hasselbeck, meanwhile, thinks it’s unfair for Maher to pull this out of the vault when he didn’t express a similar interest in Obama’s attendance at Jeremiah Wright‘s church. Though if one were to compare the amount of air time spent on that latter as an indication of what’s to come for the former then Christine O’Donnell better buckle down for a witchy ride. Watch below.

Well it wasn’t just in high school. She was talking about this on a political talk show, and she was talking as if she believed in it.

  • Fox News: We proudly pander to Teabaggers

Now there is a serious pundit for the tea party:

    P.S.
Let me be the first to laugh in your faces:

According to the Las Vegas hotel that was supposed to play host to the second national tea party convention, the much-hyped event has been canceled.

  • Big_F-ing_Deal

Wow, the Right is so great at dishing it out but they suck balls at taking it. lolol

  • TeaPartyPatriot

O’Donnell has cast her spell to conjure up nearly $2 MILLION since winning the primary. Not bad for an amateur witch!

Which is more disturbing: A candidate for senate who dabbled in witchcraft when she was an adolescent in high school. -OR- The President of the United States who “dabbled” – repeatedly and by his own admission – in cocaine (and many other illegal drugs) in his life.

  • freddiejg

    Hey Teapartybagger…
Which is more disturbing: A candidate for senate who…..

O’Donnell, a perennial candidate who waged two losing (and little-noticed) Senate campaigns before this year, has been breaking the law for years by using campaign contributions for personal use, paying for gas, rent, even bowling.
The complaint includes a signed affidavit from David Keegan, a former campaign aide. Keegan said he became concerned about O’Donnell’s use of campaign money soon after joining her last Senate campaign (against Joe Biden) in June 2008, in part because “she had no other visible source of personal income.”

Does this “disturb” you at all??? You who are all about “fiscal responsibility”????

  • felixw

i disagree with Hasselback. The left has the right to attack O’Donnell on any issue they want. The fact that they avoid any substantive debate, and instead try to link her to witchcraft, is a tactical error, and will backfire on them. But the Left has a right to dig itself into as deep a hole as it wants in this election.

  • Yoda002

Weren’t the right just talking about Obama messing around with witchcraft or African magic. I guess because she is Republican it’s okay. Taste great, less feeling, move along now, nothing to see here.

  • freddiejg

    felixw says:
The fact that they avoid any substantive debate, and instead try to link her to witchcraft, is a tactical error, and will backfire on them.
Why is this subject of her breaking the law for years not substantive debate???

Stop with the GOSSIP and RUMOR mongering! The Bush Campaign completely denied allegations that Dubya was arrested for cocaine possession in 1972.

If it’s true that the she was into it in high school only, then it shouldn’t be the issue it is now. She obviously became a devout Christian in the 90′s…on MTV, right? I mean, they were attacking her for being a zealot….now it’s for witchcraft….that’s a big wall, and alot of mud they got. Something’s gotta stick.

Obama was in Wright’s church for 20years, or 17 was it? All the way up until he’s like, dude I’m out, I gotta win this thing.

I’m sure by Wed. it’ll be something new on O’Donnell. But the 2 items aren’t even close in severity. I knew chicks in high school that got into Wicca. I just made jokes at them, didn’t hate them. Something about the candles and crystals. I thank them cause it helped me hone my humor. They aren’t witches anymore, it’s a phase.

That’s an allegation; not an admission like that of Barry.

I understand that I hate America, but I just want to say one thing:
My threshold for caring about a candidate’s personal life is very high.
If someone told me that a drunken former prostitute who lives in a trailer park and has 14 bastard children would bring peace to the world, I’d gladly vote for her.

There are plenty of other reasons to hate Christine O’Donnell.

Just ask O’Donnell about our Middle East policies. Or trade policies with Canada. Or a hundred-and-one other public policy matters.

She’d self-implode. She’s just way in over her head and isn’t qualified. Period.

How anyone can defend this nonsense story about her witchcraft experiences is a mystery. Someone actually countered my complaints by rasing the specter of Charles Manson running for office. “Certainly his past would be relevant to his campaign, wouldn’t it?”

The Charles Manson who ordered his supporters to engage in mass murder in order to start a race war and Christine O’Donnell 18-year old playing witchcraft games with a date.

    Yes, that’s comparable.

O’Donnell isn’t going to win the DE senate seat.

  • DonnaK

It doesn’t surprise me that Hasselbeck stood up for Christine O’Donnell, she gets all her talking points from Hannity. You can be sure if Hannity has an opinion on his show, the next day Hasselbeck is spouting it. She is an unprofessional, immature women, just like O’Donnell. They need to get a grown up for the republican opinion on The view, Hasselbeck can’t carry on a conversation without shreeking or crying to get her point across.

  • SteveMG

Yes, I’m sure the Delaware voters are waiting with baited breath to hear how the Middle East policies affect them.

Right, because a US Senator’s vote plays no role in our ME policies. Y’now, Iraq? Iranian sanctions? Little things like that.

And what happens there will never affect the voters of Delaware.

  • http://twitter.com/SailRabbits Magister

I know that I’ve made several comments over the past few days about how ridiculing a youthful “dabble” in witchcraft and exposure to teenage Satanism as something of a generational thing. But once you get past the naiveté and click needs of bloggers, the folks spouting whatever they think will support their political cause and television hosts who don’t even get the Karl Rove joke… I think we’ve learned that if Stevie Nicks were to run against Joe Arpaio, the Sheriff could end up with a lot of liberal and media endorsements.

  • dopebeats

This is really ridiculous. The first part of the ridiculous is the fact that people care that she ‘dabbled’ in witchcraft. Whats really ridiculous though is the comparison between her and Rev. Wright. It’s funny how the public as a whole has vilified Rev. Wright over his comments. This is a man who has served his country in the military, worked on a medical team caring for a former president (LBJ), yet he gets this flack from the same people with a “support the troops” sticker on the back of their car. Instead of dismissing this person as a lunatic it would probably behoove you to atleast attempt to understand what he meant by those comments or atleast what would make a man who has, in the past, had a great record for serving and ‘loving’ his country to make comments such as the ones he made.

Miss O’Donnell where did the blood on the altar come from? Did you kill an innocent cat or was one of your fiends masturbating while they had their period? In the ghetto if we walk in on our kids while masturbating we just close the door, give them some privacy. It’s the rehearsal before they make us a grandmother. But taking the life of an innocent animal is grounds for an ass kicking. It will instill in a child the value of life. It is what a parent has to do to bring a child up right. There will be no more talk of devil worship or animal sacrifice. Let’s hope that we don’t hear anymore “wisdom” from the self appointed moral misfits like you. Family Values From Grandma WacKyourAss

Once again can you see why he would think that or even give that idea credence? Why would a person that is legitimately racist serve on the medical team of a white president? Why did the freebase form of cocaine primarily hit black communities so hard? Why is it that people get longer jail sentences for selling the same chemical just one is a salt and one is a freebase? I’m not saying I agree with what he said, but I am saying based on historic details somethings don’t add up. I don’t think this man deserves to be treated and demonized the way he was. You have people that say ridiculous stuff everyday. Some people (people elected in positions of power) that say that our president is a Kenyan Muslim Marxist looking to kill all the old people. Also, look at the quote in its entirety and look at the point he was trying to make. It’s a point that many Tea Party members and liberals alike would agree with. For the lazy heres the quote.

“The government lied about the Tuskegee experiment. They purposely infected African American men with syphilis. Governments lie. The government lied about bombing Cambodia and Richard Nixon stood in front of the camera, ‘Let me make myself perfectly clear…’ Governments lie. The government lied about the drugs for arms Contra scheme orchestrated by Oliver North, and then the government pardoned all the perpetrators so they could get better jobs in the government. Governments lie…. The government lied about inventing the HIV virus as a means of genocide against people of color. Governments lie. The government lied about a connection between Al Qaeda and Saddam Hussein and a connection between 9.11.01 and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Governments lie.”

They purposely infected African American men with syphilis

No black men were injected with syphillis. They had contracted syphillis on their own and were part of a group being studied on the effects of the disease.

During the study, a cure was found (actually, penicillin) for the disease but none were given the drug.

That was shameful to allow them to be treated like guinea pigs. But none on them were injected with syphillis.
