Fox News Profiles in Courage: James O’Keefe (Fake Pimp)
Much has been made of James O’Keefe and his remarkably successful effort to bring down ACORN through his shocking hidden camera interviews. At the start, this story was almost entirely reported by Fox News, the NY Post, Matt Drudge and Andrew Breitbart. And O’Keefe was mostly portrayed as more of a collegiate prankster than modern-day Upton Sinclair. Enter Chris Wallace, who finally gave O’Keefe his hagiographic due.
On the program “Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace,” O’Keefe appeared in blue blazer and tie, forgoing his previous pimped out attire of fur coat and cane. And while Wallace made reference to O’Keefe’s previous campaigns against “political correctness,” this interview had a decidedly more respectful tone, by both interviewer and subject.
When the issue arose of whether or not he broke Maryland law by illicitly taping ACORN workers without their consent, O’Keefe seemed cavalier in his “what-me-worry” response. He openly questioned why anyone would equate secret taping to the tacit approval of human trafficking, as he claims was demonstrated on the video. Watch the interview for yourself below.
