Kim Kardashian Finally Proves Saint West Exists by Posting His Photo

Let me start by saying that no parent ever, ever has an obligation to post a photo of their baby. This should go without saying. Still, the Kardashian family’s hyper-successful business model — one they pioneered —  is a simple one that involves broadcasting the minutia of each family member‘s life, so it was surprising when fans weren’t given a photo of Saint West promptly after his birth on December 5, 2015.

I’m sad to report that some of us started to doubt that Kim Kardashian West even had a second baby. Here I am, being a big downer two weeks ago:

I don’t believe Saint West exists.

Today, which is the birthday of O.J. Simpson‘s lawyer and family patriarch Robert Kardashian, Sr., the social media O.G. shut us all up by sharing the first photo of Saint. (Her Instagram, after all, is her go-to for everything from selfies to political messages, and sometimes both.)

At present, the photo has amassed 1.5 million likes on Instagram and has been up for three hours. Kardashian West simply captioned it “SAINT WEST,” but on her personal website and app, she included a more personal message:

Today is my dad’s birthday. I know there’s nothing more in the world he would have wanted than to meet his grandchildren. So I wanted to share this pic of Saint with you all.

Regardless of how you feel about Kardashian West and her family, she is here to stay and has proven, through interviews on NPR and at tech conferences, that she is, at the very least, savvy. Her detractors would do well to remember that she has attended the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in years past and has also written an op-ed for Time about the Armenian Genocide. She knows that people who hate her will click on her stories just like people who love her will, which she (and momager Kris Jenner) likely couldn’t be happier to exploit.

Certainly, Kardashian West’s influence is often overshadowed by her sultry public persona and her husband’s erratic public tirades, but the likes, headlines, and shares that have been sparked by the one picture of that baby indicate that she knows how to unify haters and fans alike when she has to.
