McCain’s New Campaign Ad: “Complete The Dang Fence”

video

Maybe this is John McCain’s new way of being a ‘maverick.’ McCain, who for years was a strong supporter of immigration reform, just released a new campaign ad which features him strolling the Mexican border with a border sheriff who tells him “we’re outmanned…with all the illegals in America more than half come through Arizona.” McCain’s response: “Complete the dang fence.” Says the sheriff: “Senator, you’re one of us.”

It’ll be interesting to see how and if McCain dials back to the center once this primary against J.D. Hayworth is over. Video below.

Not unlike Joe Scarborough, the “former maverick” gets it from both sides … many conservatives and many democrats don’t like either one of them.

But I do think McCain will survive the challenge from J.D. Hayward who has apparently proved even more controversial. The state of the GOP in Arizona is so embarrassing to must of us outsiders.

If McCain, Carly Fiorina and Charlie Frist all win the primary and/or the general election, what does that say about the Tea Party?

John McCain, go away. Seriously, go to one of your 5 or 6 houses and leave us alone. You have enough money for 10 lifetimes. You are not helping anymore. I don’t know if you ever helped, but clearly your time has come and gone.

Complete the dang fence? How about repeal NAFTA, help the Mexican economy, and yeah fix the fence 20 years ago. The horse has left the barn cowboy.

    Go McCain.

  • JunkJunk

He should have just gone ahead and said “damned”. Saying “dang” makes him look even older and more of touch (if that’s even possible).

In 2006, Senator McCain voted for an amendment to S. 2611, which would have effectively guaranteed that the border fence to prevent illegal aliens from entering America was never built.

My have times changed, or is it the polls?

  • Big_F-ing_Deal

    That’s just like old people..

They always want to put up a fence to keep people off their lawns.

So I don’t get it, if the Tea Party doesn’t win every contest…….what?

How about Rand Paul? Marco Rubio? Tim Bridgewater? FNC was cozy with the Tea Party until Bob Bennett got ousted. Now it’s BAD TEA PARTY.

Nobody said it was going to be easy & overnight. BTW: where is that ‘Coffee Party’? Oh yeah, 20 of them showed up at the capitol last week. What a force eh?

Almost reminds you of the English with a canon “salute”, having ONE soldier standing at the back, by himself. When asked what he did, the reply was that he ‘used to’ hold the reigns

You mean a movement that was born out of a desire to stop hyper-politicizing every issue ISN’T out there mindlessly protesting? Oh, what irony!

  • the real john t

    “Complete the dang fence?”

Oh! You mean that fence that Bush started, but there were major gaps in? Because the plush golf course/spas didn’t want it coming through their property. Or Bush’s good friends the Hunt brothers didn’t want it going through their property in Texas.

  • Olby Sucks

How could a fence on the BORDER go through someones property, t-bone?

McCain, you’re a little late. If that was your mindset during the campaing, you would be president right now. You chose to rub shoulders with feingold and kennedy. How’d that work out for ya?

  • Nachi

What a pathetic alcoholic jerk. Tody’s version of a “hero.” Total of 2.3 hours in a combat zone. Yup.

He and BushDrunk should have attended the same classes for “Dumbsters.”

McCain's response: "Fill the closure of Dang." The sheriff said: "Senator, you're one of us.

With Jeff, you can have ignorance or cowardice. You have to select which of the two you want.

  • The Real Royal King

The border fence was such a good idea anyway. It’s like fencing in the right side of your backyard, but not the left or the back.

  • Olby Sucks

The “gaps” in the fence were by design, loons. All they need are machine guns at the end of the funnels and the problem will soon disappear.

  • The Real Royal King

I’m quite sure everyone knows the gap are by design, Jeff. In fact, that is the point. Both the concept and the design are faulty and will not do the slightest bit of good.

  • writer

Just what are the left’s solutions to stopping illegal entry from Mexico? If a fence won’t work and profiling is racist, what does the left offer as solutions?

  • The Real Royal King

I think we could do the following:

Erect a series of loud speakers along the border and blare out the Best of Reba McEntire.

    and/or

Have Mormon missionaries bicycle along the border.

Immigration, both legal and illegal, would stop almost at once.

  • writer

I guess that would work about as well as simply labeling everyone concerned about illegals as a racist. That’s really helped stop the flow. But of course, Mexicans aren’t white, and any illegal acts committed by non-whites must be ignored. (Yoke of oppression, white Christian males, sting like a bee, yadda, yadda.)

  • writer

Oops. I left out that ‘Amerika’ is evil. But that goes without saying.

  • Michael_T

It would be difficult to argue that the existing fence (especially near Tijuana) doesn’t have some utility. However, the most effective solution to reduce much of illegal immigration is to clamp down on employers.

Fewer jobs = fewer job seekers
    No ID = no job

Same goes for the undue influence by lobbyist. Until we get serious about public financing the powers on K Street will continue to undermine our democracy. Does either party really represent the people, or are most of their members in congress nothing more than corporatist masquerading as populists?

I only wish the Tea Partiers were as concerned with undue influence as they are about taxes and the Constitution.

Hell I might grab a lawn chair and a truckers cap and join them.
