Neither Presidential Candidate Has Yet Issued Comment on Dallas Police Shooting (UPDATED)
You know that cliché about presidents responding to 3 am calls? Well, we’re close to 3 am right now and neither major presidential candidate has made any public statement on the deadliest attack on U.S. law enforcement in almost 50 years.
Some people noticed the odd silence:
Could somebody wake up the presidential candidates? Since the rest of America is awake. YOU MIGHT WANT TO SHOW US SOME OF THAT LEADERSHIP!

I think so. It would also be good to hear measured/calming words from BOTH pres. candidates. Leadership needed. https://t.co/VGDbGtS4UD

No tweets from Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump yet on #Dallas.

And just to amuse ourselves, here’s the last thing each candidate tweeted, as of this posting:
We have a responsibility to fight for the next generation. All of us. #TBThttps://t.co/p4FcuCcVmW

After today, Crooked Hillary can officially be called Lyin' Crooked Hillary.
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 8, 2016
Now, as for the current president, Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings said during a press conference earlier that the White House already reached out to offer help.
President Obama is in Poland today and he delivered a speech last night on the police shootings earlier this week.
UPDATE — 8:30 A.M. EDT: Trump has tweeted out a brief statement on the shooting.
Prayers and condolences to all of the families who are so thoroughly devastated by the horrors we are all watching take place in our country
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 8, 2016
UPDATE — 9:30 A.M. EDT: Clinton has given a statement as well.
I mourn for the officers shot while doing their sacred duty to protect peaceful protesters, for their families & all who serve with them. -H
