NRA On Obama Skeet Shooting Photo: Doesn’t Erase ‘Lifetime’ Of Backing ‘Every Gun-Control Scheme Imaginable’
Amid much skepticism about whether President Obama does actually go skeet shooting, the White House yesterday released an official photo of the president doing just that. The National Rifle Association, however, was rather dismissive.
The NRA, the AP noted, “scoffed” at the photo, taking another opportunity to criticize Obama’s proposals.
“One picture does not erase a lifetime of supporting every gun ban and every gun-control scheme imaginable,” said spokesman Andrew Arulanandam.
The official White House photograph was released yesterday after Obama’s interview with The New Republic noted that he goes skeet shooting “all the time” at Camp David.
Particularly, the NRA has opposed an assault weapons ban, limiting high-capacity magazines, and universal background checks. In the wake of the shooting in Newtown, the organization has also called for armed guards across schools.
