NY Pol Claims Twitter Hacking After Being Caught Following Porn Star

The county executive of Suffolk County, New York was following a porn star on Twitter. The New York Post looked into the matter and found that Steve Bellone was following Belle Knox on the social media service.

That name should be familiar to you; Belle Knox is a Duke University student whose identity was outed on campus this year. She decided to go public and speak out in defense of the life she’s chosen for herself.

The Post report discovered nothing else about a possible connection between Bellone and Knox, just that he was following her. But here’s how Bellone’s spokesperson reacted when asked:

“County Executive Bellone’s Twitter account, which is operated by his staff, has been hacked and an obscene Twitter account was subsequently followed… A formal complaint has been filed with Twitter and to the third-party software used to assist in managing the account. His staff has instituted stricter security protocols to ensure an incident like this does not happen in the future.”
