Protest Against Fox News and Bill O’Reilly Being Led by Top New York City Official

It’s not just advertisers who are protesting Bill O’Reilly in the wake of sexual harassment claims against him.
Now, New York City’s public advocate, Letitia James, is taking her objections to O’Reilly and Fox News to the streets. According to TV Newser, James led a peaceful protest outside of Fox News headquarters in the Big Apple.
About 50 people rallied with her against a news company they said is “a place where alternative facts have given way to alternative standards of behavior.”
Specifically, James went after Fox because it “is a place where individuals of color have been humiliated and embarrassed because of the color of their skin.” To TV Newser, she said this:
I came here today because I’m offended by the remarks of Bill O’Reilly, by all of the sexual harassment and the lawsuits. I’m offended by the coverups, and I’m offended by the remarks O’Reilly made towards Congresswoman Waters last month.
I’m also offended that Fox News would allow a type of work environment that’s so hostile to women and to people of color. It’s truly unacceptable that this exists, especially in the City of New York.
James was, of course, referring to the racial discrimination suit Fox got hit with recently and the comments O’Reilly made about Maxine Waters‘s hair. O’Reilly later apologized for what he called a “dumb comment”.
Fox News provided the following statement: “We take complaints of this nature very seriously and took prompt and effective remedial action in terminating Judy Slater before Ms. Brown, Ms. Wright and Ms. Douglas sued in court and even before Ms. Wright and Ms. Douglas complained through their lawyer. There is no place for conduct like this at Fox News, which is why Ms. Slater was fired.”
Edit. – this post was updated to include the statement from FNC.
