Sen Harry Reid: “Only 36,000 People Lost Their Jobs Today, Which Is Really Good!”

video

Oh Harry Reid. We get what you’re trying to say in this Senate video, but sometimes things just come out totally wrong, you know? Like 36,000 people losing their jobs…isn’t that great. But we understand what you’re driving at, don’t worry.

Editor’s Note: In the original version of this article, we listed the number of jobs lost as 360,000, which was incorrect. The actual number cited by Harry Reid was 36,000. Mediaite regrets the error.

I despise leftists as much as the next intelligent person. But Sen Reid simply misspoke. I don’t see any reason to crucify him for it.

  • writer

Although, come November, Harry will be one of those seeking a job.

  • rbarnes

Sometimes things come out totally wrong, but we understand what you’re driving at. He said 36,000, not 360,000. See how easy it is for things to come out wrong? If you’re going to mock, please make sure you’re accurate, otherwise the mockery just fails.

This is a stupid story! Any intelligent person can figure out what Harry Reid was saying!

  • Moderate

Not long ago, not creating 100,000 new jobs was a bad thing, now only losing 36,000 jobs is a good thing.

  • Azarkhan

PS: Leftists, please don’t worry. Mediaite is only running this to appear “fair and balanced”. Mediaite will go back to its mission statement of attacking conservatives right after the station break.

  • MoonDog

It’s not 360,000, it’s 36,000. Did you not listen to what he said? Apparently not.

  • ImNotBlue

Not to play the fact police… but your headline is wrong. “36,000″ not “360,000.”

But I suppose a bunch of other people caught that before me. Ah well…

  • PureFreedom

Lets see Reid keep saying stupid things, and the left keep saying no big deal or its not a story… lol

Your right Azarkhan, Drew Grant even says in his story, “But we understand what you’re driving at, don’t worry.”
ahhhhh! It was so hard for Drew to write anything negative about Reid he cant!!

But if Sarah or any conservative might make one slip of the tongue they start yelling how stupid they are and attack there intelligence. Then somehow, in some weird way it will end up as they are raciest.

Same story …every time with the left.

  • Puter Boi

Drew Grant’s dad Lou is going to be upset that Drew, in his haste to be first, got the story wrong.

But we understand what you’re driving at, don’t worry, Drew.

  • ImNotBlue

    Great! Drew fixed it…

Although, we shouldn’t be surprised that there was an error in one of Drew’s stories. Why just last week, he wrote something completely untrue about Bernie Goldberg… and refused to fix it!

Former CBS correspondent Bernie Goldberg was on The Factor tonight promoting his new book “A Slobbering Love Affair” (not the good kind)…

    STOP THE PRESSES!!!

Wanna know something interesting? Bernie Goldberg and Bill O’Reilly never mentioned the book, “A Slobbering Love Affair,” on tonight’s show.

    WHAAAAAAAAAT?

Yeah, that’s right… Ol’ Drew, it seems is making stuff up! How fun!

Again, quote Drew, “Bernie Goldberg was on The Factor tonight promoting his new book “A Slobbering Love Affair”

Hey Drew, where’d you get that part?! How does someone promote a book, without ever mentioning it? Did you watch the segment? Are you aware of what really happened? Where are you getting your info?

HEY COLBY, what’s going on here?!

  • Drew Grant

The article has been updated with the correct number, and I apologize for getting the data wrong.

Also, I am in fact a woman, not a man, so let’s just clear up that piece of misinformation right now.

  • Drew Grant

@ImNotBlue Yes, I did watch the clip. The chyron scrolling throughout the segment mentions Goldberg as the author of A Slobbering Love Affair. That’s a promotion if I ever saw one.

  • ImNotBlue

    promoting a candidacy

    Former CBS NEWS CORRESPONDENT

    Bernardgoldberg.com

    Author of the book
    “A slobbering love affair”

    Former CBS NEWS CORRESPONDENT

    Former CBS NEWS CORRESPONDENT

    Fox News Contributor

So let me see if I understand you correctly, Drew (despite taking a week to come up with this spin): Because Goldberg was keyed ONCE as “Author of the book, ‘A Slobbering Love Affair’” (along with the other Chyrons saying, “Former CBS News Correspondent” three time, “BernardGoldberg.com” once, and “Fox News Contributor” once), that is tantamount to him “promoting” his book… even though he or O’Reilly never mentioned it, never made reference to it, it wasn’t the focus of the segment, and the book came out almost a year ago.

    Really?

What does that say about politicians who appear on ANY network, and are keyed with their state and party… is that evidence of them campaigning? Is this the same standard you hold for everyone who gets credited as a book author prior to or during an interview… they’re all hocking their product?

    Wow!

Face it Drew… you needed something negative to say about Goldberg, so you pulled out this big of irrelevant nonsense. It was your attempt to make Goldberg look like he was selling something, instead of giving his opinion on a completely different topic… and served your purpose of reminding the audience that “this is a guy who doesn’t like Obama, perhaps you shouldn’t like Goldberg because of that.”

Lame, Drew… really lame. And indeed transparent.

  • ImNotBlue

Sorry… I wrote those notes while watching the segment… “promoting a candidacy” is the obvious response to Drew’s goofy assertion that someone keyed with a bit of their resume, is equivalent to them hocking a product. And the other lines are the Chyrons as they appeared.

My mistake… should have cut those off before posting. Oops.

    Drew,

I stopped reading IMB’s posts a long time ago. I advise you to do the same.

    Sincerely,

    SWWT

Losing only 36,000 jobs is a non-issue unless you happen to be one of the 36,000. Harry Reid is a buffoon for saying this was a good thing. (No, I’m not unemployed, but I am sensitive to the feelings of others.)

  • MichelleF

Harry really is the gift that keeps on giving! We’re gonna miss him come November.

    And why is that?

Yes, Michelle. We’ll miss him. Just not very much.
