Trump: ‘Biased’ Anderson Cooper Shouldn’t Moderate Debates, I’ve Seen How He ‘Behaves’

trump cooperIf you wondered whether Donald Trump‘s style has been moderated to the point where he’s losing his touch, wonder no more. His new interview with The Washington Post is chock full of the kind of sentiments that have fired people up over Trump (for better or worse) since last year.

But the one that stands out in particular is his declaration that Anderson Cooper should not be moderating one of the upcoming debates. (Cooper and ABC’s Martha Raddatz are co-moderating the second debate in October.)

He said, “I don’t think Anderson Cooper should be a moderator because Anderson Cooper works for CNN and over the last couple of days, I’ve seen how Anderson Cooper behaves.”

Trump will still participate, but is dismayed that Cooper is being allowed to moderate when 1) he’s “very biased,” and 2) he works for “the Clinton News Network.”

(For the record, Cooper received plaudits across the media for his tough moderation of one of the Democratic primary debates.)

Trump also declined an opportunity to clear up his birtherism once and for all, saying, “I’ll answer that question at the right time. I just don’t want to answer it yet.”

And when it was mentioned to him that his own campaign manager said he no longer believes it, Trump’s response was: “It’s okay. She’s allowed to speak what she thinks.”

Trump also denied he has any interest in starting a media company:

Trump said he has never had a conversation about launching a venture with Ailes or other prominent right-wing media figures.

“No, never did,” he said. “I want to win the presidency and I want to make America great again. It’s very simple. I have no interest in a media company. False rumor.”

Oh, and just to cap this all off, Trump said he’s so far been respectful towards Clinton over her health but “that doesn’t mean that I’m going to stay there.”
