Twitter Blows Up Over News of Michael Cohen Guilty Plea: ‘Most Successful Witch Hunt in History’

After President Donald Trump’s ex-personal lawyer and general problem solver Michael Cohen pleaded guilty to lying to Congress today, all hell broke loose on Twitter.
Cohen, who specifically lied about Trump’s plans to create a Trump Tower in Moscow, Russia, had previously arrived at a plea deal with special counsel Robert Mueller after being caught in the Russia probe. However, prosecutors found that Cohen was not truthful in an August 28, 2017 letter sent to the Congressional intelligence committees, and thus faces five years of prison time and a quarter of a million dollar fine. (His plea deal was set at six months of prison time and a $9,500 fine).
“As late as approximately June 2016 , Cohen… discussed the status and progress of the Moscow Project with (Trump) on more than the three occasions,” stated a federal court filing.
Given the obvious implications this news has on Trump, the president came out swinging against Cohen, calling him a “weak person” and a liar today. He also claimed he canned the Moscow Trump Tower idea and accused Cohen of being motivated to lie about his Moscow plans in exchange for a smaller sentence.
Pundits, reporters, and other users on Twitter quickly pounced on the news, with many posting jokes about Cohen’s crime-doing and recent, timely Trump’s attacks on Mueller:
Manafort and Cohen running neck-and-neck in the Crimes race.

Maybe this wasn’t the right morning for Trump to ask, “Did you ever see an investigation more in search of a crime?” https://t.co/qiYQ7ETVYr

Trump’s attacks on the Mueller probe late last night and again early this morning raise a huge question: did Whitaker brief him on what was coming today?
