Keith Olbermann may have left his ratings juggernaut at MSNBC for Al Gore‘s much smaller and lesser known Current TV, but that doesn’t mean the liberal pundit’s fame or notoriety is reaching some sort of end – at least, not if Aaron Sorkin has anything to do with it.

For months it seemed as if The Social Network was the odds on favorite to win an Oscar for Best Picture this year. The buzz was great, Facebook is the meme of the moment and ticket sales were staggering. Then, something changed. Now it’s a horse race with The King’s Speech now neck in neck with The Social Network to nab this years biggest prize in filmmaking.

Last night’s Golden Globes telecast was largely devoid of politics and instead the target seemed to be Hollywood itself, thanks to the tone set by a fearless, go-for-broke hosting job by Ricky Gervais. However, Aaron Sorkin, screenwriter of The Social Network and The American President and creator of television’s The West Wing, did manage to slip in a veiled political reference.

In a preview video of this Sunday’s 60 Minutes, Lesley Stahl asks Facebook wunderkind Mark Zuckerberg for his thoughts on The Social Network. Zuckerberg, who once told the media that he wouldn’t even bother watching Aaron Sorkin‘s depiction of Facebook’s inception, ended up taking all of his employees to see it with him. “I actually thought it was pretty fun,” he told Stahl. Yet he added, “There were hugely basic things that they got wrong too.” Girls, he claimed, were not his motivation for starting Facebook, citing that he already had a girlfriend at that point.
