5QQ: HLN’s Richelle Carey
HLN anchor Richelle Carey recently talked to country star Tim McGraw about the issue of domestic violence, an issue she herself is passionate about (she’s on the board of Men Stopping Violence). “Talking about domestic abuse is very personal and he didn’t shy away from it,” she tells Mediaite.
Now Carey becomes the latest to answer our 5QQ – Five Quick Questions:
1.How do you get your first news of the day?:
1stheadlines.com
2. The “either, or” question (you gotta pick one!): iPhone or Blackberry; Texas or Georgia; World Series or Super Bowl; Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert?
Blackberry, TEXAS, Super Bowl, Stewart
3. What’s the biggest story the media has missed this year?
The shocking number of children in poverty in this country. It’s a crisis..but isn’t covered or treated as such. Families are being changed with this deep recession…the middle class gutted. That is in the headlines regularly. I don’t think enough attention is paid to the fact millions of children in this country are now growing up in poverty. It affects their education, safety, so many things.
4. Obligatory Twitter Question: Describe yourself in 140 characters or less.
I don’t tweet. So can I skip this question? That’s a description!
5. Are you nervous or excited about the future of journalism and media?
Both. Nervous…because it seems the business side of journalism and the media continues to change which costs people jobs. Excited..because there are always stories to cover that matter.
