Bartiromo Battles Pelosi’s Daughter: ‘You’re Giving the Middle Finger to the Audience!’
It seems as if battling for air time during cable news interviews is the theme of the week.
Just one day after Tucker Carlson and Kurt Eichenwald got into a disastrously maddening blowup about talking over one another and not answering questions directly (seriously, this was a trainwreck), Maria Bartiromo of Fox Business dropped the gloves with California elector Christine Pelosi.
Pelosi, the daughter of Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, appeared on Mornings With Maria to defend the Democrats’ call to expose and reveal the extent of Russian interference in our election. Bartiromo relied on the oft-cited rebuttal: did the Russians cause Hillary Clinton‘s downfall entirely or did self-inflicted gunshot wounds doom her campaign?
However, shades of the Carlson-Eichenwald facepalm were evident Friday morning, as Bartiromo battled Pelosi over speaking over one another during the interview. “We’d like to see the evidence” of Russian hacking interference, said Pelosi. “And find out where the manipulation here is.”
But as soon as Bartiromo attempted to get in a line of questioning, Pelosi continued her responses; it resulted in a number of exchanges that involved the anchor saying some variation of, “Christine, let’s not talk on top of each other,” over and over again.
“How much of this is just sour grapes on your part?,” asked Bartiromo before breaking down the voting demographics that supported Trump’s candidacy. But the more that Pelosi responded, the more incredulous the Fox Business anchor grew. “Christine, you’re killing me. This interview is about to be over and you’re not going to have gotten anything done on television.”
At one point, Bartiromo alleged that Pelosi’s behavior was akin to giving the middle finger to the viewers at home. She added, “You’re basically blowing off the audience!” and “It’s so rude to talk over someone else.”
Bartiromo continued hammering Pelosi. “You’re basically saying ‘I don’t care about the audience,’ and that’s what you said to the voters as well.”
“I think you just told the audience why she lost the election, Christine,” Bartiromo concluded. Watch above via Fox Business.
