Chris Matthews Counts Down Stupidest Political Statements Of All Time (PART TWO)
Needless to say, politicians have said far too many stupid things than can be fairly covered in a top ten list. With this in mind, Chris Matthews followed up last week’s list — inspired by Richard Blumenthal and Arlen Specter — with a brand new list, in part comprised of suggestions from viewers.
New additions this week include Trent Lott‘s assertion that if the rest country had voted for Strom Thurmond for President we’d be better off, Thurmond, of course, had been running on a segregationist Dixiecrat ticket. Rod Blagojevich gets a mention, natch. George W.’s “heckuva job” makes this cut (Bush ’43 actually makes the list twice), as does Sarah Palin‘s Putin campaign remark, so conspicuously absent the last time around. Bill Clinton also pops up — I will leave it up to you to guess what utterance landed him here. Says Matthews: “These are treasures.” Watch below.
