Chris Matthews Counts Down Stupidest Political Statements Of All Time (PART TWO)

video

Needless to say, politicians have said far too many stupid things than can be fairly covered in a top ten list. With this in mind, Chris Matthews followed up last week’s list — inspired by Richard Blumenthal and Arlen Specter — with a brand new list, in part comprised of suggestions from viewers.

New additions this week include Trent Lott‘s assertion that if the rest country had voted for Strom Thurmond for President we’d be better off, Thurmond, of course, had been running on a segregationist Dixiecrat ticket. Rod Blagojevich gets a mention, natch. George W.’s “heckuva job” makes this cut (Bush ’43 actually makes the list twice), as does Sarah Palin‘s Putin campaign remark, so conspicuously absent the last time around. Bill Clinton also pops up — I will leave it up to you to guess what utterance landed him here. Says Matthews: “These are treasures.” Watch below.

Again, no Carter “malaise” speech. And that Blagojevich comment reminded me of Gary Hart’s challenge to the press “put a tail on me.” Guess Matthews doesn’t remember Monkey Business.

Chris Mathews is at the “Top” of the list on this one. For sure!

I can’t think of a bigger waste of time than anything Chris Matthews. Or Glynnis, for that matter.

  • TKowalski

    Not funny.

Did he mention Obama saying that he visited all “57″ states? Or Biden telling the guy in a wheelchair to stand up and take a bow?

  • lazzzlo

    @TKowlaski, it is funny.

Let’s put some Alan Grayson, Robert Byrd or Bernie Sanders citations up there. On the flip side, I’m sure there are a bunch of Republican quotes that probably should have been taken back.

As a young’un, I remember not being a fan of Reagan and absolutely being in shock (with all sorts of indignant righteousness) when he did a test pattern before his weekly radio address and seemingly advocated nuking Russia. I look back on that now and think it’s funny as hell!

“Hear Reagan joking into a microphone on Aug. 11, 1984, that the United States would “begin bombing (Russia) in five minutes.”" http://www.npr.org/news/specials/obits/reagan/audio_archive.html

    “Change you can believe in.”

i like the one where Obama said he could see dead people.

“On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes – and I see many of them in the audience here today – our sense of patriotism is particularly strong.”

But I don’t think any of these will be as remembered and laughed at as much as Tingles when he said, “My, I felt this thrill going up my leg. I mean, I don’t have that too often.”

  • sarainitaly

“this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal;”

  • Sunnyr

Did little Chrissie include his own stupid statement about the “tingles that run up his leg” at the sound of Comrade Obama’s voice? This guy is a total creep! eeeuuuu!!

LOL. I can’t believe that Chris can’t see how much of a buffoon he is. He truly does not have a clue…
