Spitzer On Weiner’s Press Conference: It’s Not A Proud Moment, ‘Believe Me, I Know’
Former Governor of New York and current CNN host Eliot Spitzer couldn’t possibly avoid discussing the biggest headline of the day: Congressman Anthony Weiner’s confession in the “cringe-worthy saga.” Yet many familiar with Spitzer’s own fall from political grace were likely eager to see whether it would be awkward for Spitzer to cover a story that hit a bit close to home.
Spitzer introduced the story, admitting his own unfortunate experience:
“[Weiner's press conference] was the kind of moment that neither politicians nor journalists should be proud of, and believe me, I know. I’ve been there, and I’ve held both jobs.”
Although Spitzer resigned from his position, Weiner lives on – for now. Yet Spitzer is an inspiring example for Weiner as proof that no matter what one might have done in the past, in today’s day and age, never dismiss the potential for a comeback.
