Former Congressman Tom Tancredo Storms Off The Ed Show Set

Last night on The Ed Show, guest host David Shuster welcomed Daily Kos founder Markos Moulitas and former Colorado congressman and Republican presidential candidate Tom Tancredo for a debate about health care reform. But a personal blow from Moulitas about Tancredo’s deferment from Vietnam due to depression caused the politician to tear his microphones off and leave the show.
After Tancredo slighted the health care provided by the Veteran’s Administration, Moulitas chuckled and said, “Tom, I’m a veteran, okay? I did not get a deferment because I was too depressed to fight a war I supported in Vietnam. I’m a veteran.”
Tancredo looked stunned and called it a “cheap, rotten, stupid thing to say,” before demanding an apology. “You’re not going to do that,” he said. “You’re not going to try to insult me that way and then pretend like we’re just going on and talk about that. You either apologize or I’m out of here.”
Moulitas refused and Tancredo held up his end of the promise, removing all of his sound equipment on camera and marching off of the set. Shuster thanked both for appearing, but noted that the congressman “left a little bit early.” Watch the whole segment below:
