Joe Scarborough Shouts Down Mika Brzezinski Over Toxic Politics: ‘Stop The Apologizing!’

video

On Wednesday’s Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough shouted down co-host Mika Brzezinski after she sympathized with President Obama for his alleged distaste for politics the way it is today. “It appears that you could make a case that Barack Obama doesn’t like politics,” contributor Mike Barnicle surmised, which Newsweek’s Tina Brown agreed with. “Well who would today?” interjected Brezinski. “Oh come on!” interrupted Scarborough “If you don’t like medicine, don’t be a doctor. If you don’t like politics, don’t put yourself out there to run the free world, Mika!” “You know what?” Brzezinski said. “Politics today need to be changed. “Stop the apologizing!” Scarborough snapped.

“I’m not apologizing,” Brzezinski retorted.

“You’re apologizing!” Scarborough boomed, and imitated his female co-host in a patronizing, whiny voice. “Who would like politics today? You know what?”

“Who would?” Brzezinski insisted.

“He is running the free world!” Scarborough countered. “He better know a lot of people love politics. Bill Clinton loves politics. FDR loved politics. Ronald Reagan loved politics. Great leaders love what they do. So who would love politics?”

The awkward moment reinforced the perception that Scarborough has a frequent bad habit of interrupting/talking over Brzezinski.

Mika should have punched Joe right in the face!!

You don’t get a show on MSNBC unless you are a blow hard.

“The awkward moment reinforced the perception that Scarborough has a frequent bad habit of interrupting/talking over Brzezinski.”

By whom?  Some blogger nobody has ever heard of?  The link you provided calls Scarborough a sexist.  I’m not a fan of Scarborough but calling him a sexist because he argues with his co-host is insane.  You libs are always way too quick to trot out the identity cards.

To be fair, he does it to everybody. It’s kind of entertaining, and he knows it.

  • Anonymous

He just said not to apologize. He didn’t generalize it as a female problem.

  • Anonymous

It was amusing when he told Barnicle to get out his Constitution.  Was it being a political hack or ignorance that made Barnicle make the comment he made?  He needed corrected.

You don’t get a show on FOX unless you are a Pinhead.

Dear ‘short memory’ Mika. Who was it that used the terms ‘pitchforks’ and ‘enemies’ and ‘I won’ and ‘bitter clingers?’ It was YOUR BOY, OBAMO. If he wants to dish it out, he’d better be able to take it. And your ‘sympathy’ will get you nowhere, because all this ‘bitterness’ hatches from YOUR little studios there in haughty, Liberal Manhattan.

Joe should not holler on his Aunt Mika.

Talk about reaching for a headline.
Sounds like a typical morning on “Joe” to me.

So do conservatives. :) But he rarely vacations.

Still waiting for the Joe and Mika radio show to come back.

Waaaahh!!! I don’t want to play the other boys tackle!!Waaah!!

  • Anonymous

There’s a simple explanation for why Joe talks over Mika. He’s trying to preserve the precious slivers of ratings points the show has.

  • Anonymous

Actually Fox News has an aversion to pinheads, but I’m sure you knew that.

  • Anonymous

Joe prevented her from having an ObamaGasm on national TV.  She should just thank him and and take a long lunch.

I think you are missing the point. Joe is correct on his point (for a change) and the others don’t have a clue.

Typical bully fashion!! No objective observer or participant in politics could fail to see how civil discourse in politics (and the media) has deteriorated.

  • Anonymous

Mika is right.  Politics is no longer a debate of ideas but rather a nasty, country-dividing rhetoric with a lot of racism thrown in.  Someone earlier here called the President  ‘your boy”.  When the republicans show their true selves and lack of respect for the president, it is no longer a debate of ideas but a nasty  99% vs the 1%.

  • Anonymous

A lot of us are serial interupters, and he’s always doing it.  She did make a dumb point and he did childishly mock it.   That you can mock, of course!

As to Joe, the medicine analogy is spot-on!  If you don’t want to lead, then don’t run for president.  The excuses they make for Obama’s ‘lead from behind’ train wreck get sillier by the day…

Joe’s inability to listen and constant talking over everyone, even his guests, is the reason why the show is too annoying to watch in the morning.  Who wants all that bickering before breakfast?

That’s funny how you put an ‘L’ in Obama’s name to make it ‘Oblamer’.

He screams at her and scolds her all the time, and being the a-typical useless bimbo that she is, she has never, can never, hold her own against him or any of their guests, ever.   One wk when Joe was off she had to deal with an azzhole republican yelling her down.. she sat there and finally turned to Eugene Robinson and anointed him to take on the raging teabagger –  Eugene was so shocked and not prepared he stuttered more than usual.. he wasn’t expecting her to call upon him to address a guest SHE should have handled.

Joe is a complete arrogan azzhole but Mika is utterly useless and embarrassing.

  • http://twitter.com/JCP1975 JCP1975

It’s not a debate of ideas anymore, it’s just who can throw out the best insults. At least that’s the way this Republican primary has been going…

Oh give it a rest.  You whiny democrats spent 8 years calling George Bush every name in the book and now you’re wringing your hands because poor Obama gets called your boy.  Suck it up already.  If you can’t run with the big dogs, go sit on the porch with puppies.

What has the left called Cain?  where was your outrage?  Another hypocrite.

Isn’t it amazing that the “best insults” are coming from the democrats.  Not surprising, that’s all you ever do.  Any republican is smeared, slimed and ridiculed.  So tell me about any good ideas you might have.

    Regardless, it’s still amusing.

  • Anonymous

Sometimes I agree with Joe but here I’m with Mika.I also disagree with Joe’s analogy using politicians from the past.

The political process in recent years has degenerated into a mean spirited quest to find anything regardless of what it is or how much it has to do with the issues to demonize your opponent. The two parties now  act as if the only focus is to consolidate and increase power, issues are just tools of the trade,a means to an end,and once that end is achieved issues become far less important.

Politicians are regularly dishonest, often to the point of outright lies and fabrications. The voting public can no longer depend on the people they are voting for to be honest with them before during or after an election.

As for politicians of the past, although there has always been rhetoric and vitriol, recent years have ramped up the lies and dishonesty quotient by many times. In the past there was a “gentleman” demeanor.Even as recent as Reagan and Clinton terms, opposing sides were civil to each other.

And then there’s the C word, compromise, which has been turned into some kind of terror to avoid at all costs even though Americans want it more than ever. The two sides have become so polarized and filled with mutual hate that the country itself suffers for it every day.

Joe comes from the modern political era.He is used to how things are.He makes a living from it.But he needs to stop being tolerant of what the American people are more and more losing tolerance of.

Shocking that Rasmussen would have it so close at this point. Normally he has the Republican far out in front until 72 hours before the election when his poll amazingly becomes the average of all of the other polls.

  • The Real Royal Emperor

I think you’ve said all that before, Michelle-in-Utah, and you do realize that it is you simply sharing feelings? The comment doesn’t even rise to the level of opinion.

Which Hamburger Helper variety are you feeding to the star player on Utah’s “Spanish” soccer team tonight?

  • Cecelia

I understand how Joe gets tired of Mika’s reflexive excuses for any suggestion that the president isn’t perfect, but he can be such an utter bully in this.

I’m sure his reaction to her is how he often feels sitting at that table with liberals daily mouthing the same presuppositions, but he has to reign it in a little for them if he wants a place at MSNBC and enough credibility in their book for them to come on his show.

Sorry, Joe, don’t take it out on Wonder Mika.

I do admit that Joe HAS indulged Mika in her relentless fascination with her own navel, but that doesn’t give him the right to talk to her like he’s Daddy Zbig.

Joe defends the politics of today because he is engaged in practicing them. Surely when one group of people actually try to put the US Federal government into default (and still hold the nation hostage over its threat to do it again), that is over the top. And what, Obama is supposed to celebrate the fact that though most of the nation would like to see a reasonable increase in taxes, perhaps back to Reagan levels, on the upper brackets, where most of our GNP is gravitating to, many of the republicans (enough to block any action) have pledged to some guy named “Grover” to not allow any raising of taxes? Obama has the right to complain, but he shouldn’t be, he should be campaigning for a new congress.

There is no point in devising legislation that has zero chance of passing. One group of people in the House, call them “tea party republicans”, and their supporters, are blocking all efforts to do anything constructive, and certainly are blocking any tax increases as part of our efforts to close the budget deficit. The super committee was always doomed, and is doomed, because the house tea party group will not compromise on taxes. And it does no good for the super committee to agree on something that will not be approved by the tea party group because they seem to have the power to block legislation. And it is disturbing that so many of those folks are saying that it would be good for the Federal government to go into default, which is either insane or intentionally destructive.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mark-Williams/100000431800956 Mark Williams

Well Val I think you underestimate the partisan opposition to Obama-The GOP did its level best to paint Obama as the most far left candidate in the history of time and thus branded his every initiative with such a label where now opposition is their only position. That being said the super committee failure is actually a net plus for liberals because the so called draconian cuts don’t touch entitlements and put the burden on the military which will enable Obama to fight smarter as he has shown us can be done. The GOP does not want these cuts and they do not want the Bush tax cuts to expire hence why they were fine with generating 300 billion in new revenue. So since nothing has been cut and there has been no deficit reduction the GOP will have to campaign on exactly where they will make the tough cuts-that puts them on the spot for 2012 because as you have noticed they know its political suicide to talk about cutting medicare , medicaid, or entitlements during an election year where they have to capture the center to win. On that alone they are doomed in 2012. President Obama will win again with a narrow victory and only because the GOP were unable to present the American people with coherent economic plan.

You can’t go by these averages because the various polling outfits do not conduct the polling in the same manner.  In the mess posted by Buck Down, you can see that the only polster that used “Likely Voters” was Rasmussen.  Likely voter polling is more accurate than Registered Voters or Adults.

Another problem I see with this mess is that RCP averaged out almost an entire month, if a candidate is trending up or down, that will skew the results.  Then we have some polsters conducted polling through the week,  others on week ends.  Week end polling is not as accurate.

Back during my old campaign days, this information would be ignored.  Besides, what results we don’t see is the internal polling done by the candidate’s or the parties polsters, that’s top shelf, closely guarded stuff.  Those are the polls that are paid attention to and for some reason, dem strategists want to get rid of Obama, wish I was looking at what they are looking at.

Yeah, except for the fact the Joe is exactly correct about Obama and Mika’s love for him(although the delivery was short on tact).

  • Anonymous

What is hypocritical about that? Obama is doing what he must do, what he is expected to do, present a plan, get behind a super committee, whatever, even though he knows the same people that tried to put us in default have pledged to block everything Obama. The man who is miserably failing to lead, if anyone, is Boehner, because he can not break the deathgrip the tea partiers in the House (and their dem and repub supporters) have over reaching any compromise, super committee or not. Thus, the house has about a 10% approval rating.

  • Anonymous

Of course there is political capital in the super committee failure for the dems and Obama. It failed for the same reason the debt ceiling crisis came about a couple months ago, too many uncompromising Grover Norquist idealogues in the House.

What Mika really meant to say was this: “Only dis presi-det has been treated unfairly. Only dis one.”

I do not like that Morning Joe didn’t report on the new Cain scandal because they are above it.

News shows should report the top news of the day, not decide what you don’t need to hear.  And that was the a top story.

Get off your high hog, Mika and Joe.

    lol at Rassmussen….
    ___________________________________________________
The 105 2010 polls released in Senate and gubernatorial races by Rasmussen Reports and its subsidiary, Pulse Opinion Research, missed the final margin between the candidates by 5.8 points, a considerably higher figure than that achieved by most other pollsters. Some 13 of its polls missed by 10 or more points, including one in the Hawaii Senate race that missed the final margin between the candidates by 40 points, the largest error ever recorded in a general election in FiveThirtyEight’s database, which includes all polls conducted since 1998.

Moreover, Rasmussen’s polls were quite biased, overestimating the standing of the Republican candidate by almost 4 points on average. In just 12 cases, Rasmussen’s polls overestimated the margin for the Democrat by 3 or more points. But it did so for the Republican candidate in 55 cases — that is, in more than half of the polls that it issued.

If Scarborough wants to be taken seriously as pundit and political thinker, he’s got to stop talking to trash like Ann Coulter.  Otherwise, he’s just a another media whore going for cheap ratings.

Sound’s like Joe won’t be apolgizing for the Duchebag remarks made by Ann Counter.  I wonder if he got yelled at backestage over that. And that was why he was in a bad mood.

All kidding aside I don’t like Mika but Joe should not talk to her or anyone like that.  And how does he know what FDR liked or didn’t like. He need to quit speaking like he’s the end all be all.

Beside not everyone like what they do anyway

Obama not likeing poliitcs is what his appeal was… You know the outsider bringing in change so to speak.

who ever wrote this article is totally not a viewer of the show.   Mika runs this thing!  years ago it was actually a show where BOTH parties got representation….  Now it is the Obama Power hour and that arrogant snarky lady gets emails from the white house and pushes the agenda of the obama admin….  She left her journalist cred at the door and is whoring herself out for obama daily on this program.   She is not a victim and Joe is not a sexist nor a blowhard…. After she got her new contract after “knowing her worth”   he has been turned into a “hat rack with lips”  and is just there so JOE can stay in the show.   Crimany Barnicle gets more air time that Joe most of the time and i truly think that dude is clueless ……..

this stated after the 8 years of conduct and disrespect towards GWB…..  what short memories liberals have………  and if you are so upset about it write the president and tell him to change ,  he is the LEADER and he spends more time pointing the finger and politicking than anyone in Washington.  The man has not stopped campaigning and shirking his responsibility by blaming everyone since he has stepped into the office.   He is the president ,  his party owns 2/3 of the power and he sets the tone with “ditches” and  going “into Reverse”  comments that started in earnest last year.    He has spent this year playing class warfare pitting American against American and worse of all he has not accepted responsibility for his economy and his own lack of results there in at trying to fix the job issue and lack of growth.   It is his job to get things done ,   blaming the republicans who have held power for less than a year in 1/3 of the government works as well as “my dog ate my homework”  The man is a pathetic excuse for a CINC which is sad since he sold us a total lie that he was going to change Washington.

I’m no fan of Mika who all too often comes across like Joe S.’s lapdog.

But I must confess there are times I wish she had a tiny can of pepper spray under her desk and could put that arrogant condescending boorish clown in his place.

Why CBS was ever considering these two for their morning news show has me baffled beyond belief.

I’m not a fan of Scarborough but he knows a thing or two about politics, unlike Mika, who only knows her liberal talking points.  It’s very clear that Obama doesn’t like politics, everyone knows it.  He doesn’t talk with members of congress, he doesn’t like interacting with the American people, and he doesn’t lead on the most important issues because that requires sitting down and talking with members of congress who don’t share his ideology.  One thing he does like though is giving speeches, that’s why he has to use a teleprompter for every one, he feels it’s too important to risk not knowing every single word in the speech, he believes his words are that powerful.  How ironic is it that Mika is defending the most partisan President in our lifetime who blames every failure of his administration on congress when it was in fact his inability to lead our country.

How does one know who is a likely voter a year out before an election?  There is a reason most pollsters do not use a likely voter model until closer to the election.  In addition, in a presidential year, you get a lot of “unlikely” voters who show up to vote.  Registered voter models have pretty good accuracy when it comes to high turnout elections.  Low turnout elections not-so-much.

“…in a presidential year, you get a lot of ‘unlikely voters’ who show up to vote.”  Yeah like Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and millions of dead voters.

President Obama did what any one could do , its wrong to give him credit for just printing money out of thin air and bailing out his most important force of voters in the private sector , anyone politically and Bureaucratically empowered could have done that once they gain control of the Presidency and the Federal Reserve’s Printing press , Ha ha ha and have control of the Media spin …….It is just amazing how these media and government elite think we the people  are all so stupid to the games they are playing while they are wrapping us all up into their little web of sustainable development like baking a cake with the bodies of the society that is ruining THEIR EARTH !!!

Trouble is…politics today is what it is, in good part, BECAUSE of Obama.  What he really meant was, “If I can’t get my own way and do whatever I want, then it’s someone else’s fault and that darned silly Constitution of the United States keeps getting in my way.”

when newt polls better than Obama, it’s past time to panic. I’d vote for Newt over Obama, and even I can’t believe it.  Now, if Obama changes course and actually tries to work with the congress to pass real reforms and deficit reductions, then I’ll reassess.

Now, If Romney wins the nod, no brainer for me.  He’s got my vote. And Mondale level electoral landslide numbers.

Joe thinks the toxin in politics is akin to medicine?  What a stupid comparison.  That is basically saying the toxic talk in politics is necessary.  It didn’t used to be, until people like Newt Gingrich and Roger Ailes decided to insert it.  There used to be disagreements, but not childish name calling, or attacking politicians families.  The right wing pundits, thanks to FOX, have turned politics into nothing more than a football game, our team against yours.  It doesn’t matter if you lie and slander to win, just win!

It’s not a matter of whether he is right or wrong. The point that is being made is his rudeness towards his Co Host. He totally disrespects her. He treats her as if she’s a lesser being than he is. It’s embarrassing to watch sometimes when she gets talked over as though she’s a child. Respect costs nothing. I’ve seen him yell at her and dismiss her many times. Shame on him.

Thank God for the liberals. If there had been no liberals; women wouldn’t be able to vote, much less run for president. Liberals are the reason I’m now able to vote, liberals got us Social Security, they created the EPA so that workers are not exposed to dangerous Carcinogens in the workplace. They passed the Civil Rights Act, the voting rights act. As early as the 60′s in THIS country people were being killed to prevent them from registering people to vote.Liberals helped get rid of the poll tax that some people had to pay to vote.
If you think that using the word liberal is offensive to liberals, you’re wrong. Every accomplishment worthy of mentioning was due to liberal thinkers.

I don’t hear any of the Republican presidential candidates mentioning President Bush’s name. I wonder why? Because he went into Iraq claiming there were weapons of mass destruction and he found NONE. President Bush wanted to go in and kill Saddam because he threatened to kill the elder Bush. Cheney and Halliburton went in to steal the oil reserves. That whole Iraq war was nothing but a disaster. If President Obama had done that he would have been likely Assassinated. President Bush didn’t capture Osama Bin Laden, He didn’t remove Khadaffi from Power….. What did he do? Oh, He started a war and didn’t pay for it. We’re still paying for the war and the tax cuts he gave to his millionaire friends.

No matter what we know about how brutal Saddam was to his own people, he was not a part of Al Quaeda and had nothing to do with 911. We destabalized a sovereign country and started a civil war that got thousands of our young men and women killed or maimed for absolutely nothing. There were more than a hundred thousand Iraqi’s killed for Pres

Scarborough is rude.  Why chastise a differing opinion when you are the pot calling the kettle black. Joe got out of politics saying he wanted to spend more time with his family and that he would rather be remembered as a father than a congressman. Now he sits on MSNBC dissing Obama and Dems., while dissing his co-host’s comments.  Looks like Joe wants to be remembered as a rude big mouthed republican politician afterall.  Which way is it, Joe?  You can’t have it both ways, especially when you resigned right after the questionable death of a female office woman found in his FL office.
