Jon Stewart Bashes Bush Library: ‘The Hard Rock Café Of Catastrophic Policy Decisions’

Jon Stewart had some good nostalgic fun tonight taking on the George W. Bush presidential library for trying to dust over the actual legacy of the former president’s administration. Stewart was very excited to dust off his old Bush impression and remember the good ol’ days of war with Iraq, Hurricane Katrina, and all the rest of it, summing up the Bush library as “the Hard Rock Café of catastrophic policy decisions.”

Stewart wondered what Bush has been up to, given how other former presidents have taken up NGO work and the like, but 43’s been taking pleasure in painting. Stewart intoned in his Bush voice that a gallon of paint is the only thing that can shield him from the cries of suffering people.

Stewart also noticed the media coverage of Bush highlighting his steadily growing popularity in hindsight, with one reporter saying that his father is much more popular now than he used to be. Stewart said this is only because Bush Sr. is being compared to his son, and said that if W’s kid becomes president and “invades the moon,” we’ll look back and think he wasn’t so bad.

Stewart and correspondent Al Madrigal mocked the Choose Your Own Adventure-style Bush presidency simulator, which Stewart deemed “disasterpiece theatre.” Madrigal pointed out that the questions seemed a little biased, such as on Iraq, you could either topple a dictator or be a “little bitch.” Madrigal added that Bill Clinton‘s library also has an interactive exhibit, but it’s just a “crotch-level hole in the wall.”
